Quick post as I have a lot on and don't right now have the time to devote to a proper study of this, so it's an observation.

I was with a group recently and noticed that those who were vociferously anti-trans were also anti-migrants. The rhetoric was similar.

This is of course true of people like Donald Trump (US) and Nigel Farage (UK).

I guess it's obvious: once you exclude one group you are more likely to exclude others. Discriminate against one set and you discriminate against another.

It's a link. Not always. Not absolutely. But I'm pretty sure it's there.

And scapegoating minorities is a habit for bullies.

Bigots gonna bigot. It doesn't matter who the target is,  all they care about is having a target.

It is called xenophobia.  Or narcissism.

It is not about hating specific groups.  It is that they only care about themselves.  They see the world as "us" versus "them", with "them" being anyone who is not like themselves.  In their minds, migrants, trans people, poor people, etc. are all equally "them".  They aren't hating on two (or more) groups.  In their minds, they are only hating one group: "them".

It makes sense that their leader is the world's biggest narcissist.
