Mom moved into her apartment yesterday and she is happy there. Found out she is doing well still. Gets together with other widows there and they have been a great help to her since my dad passed

Mom has met new friends there and I am glad to see it.The one across her that is transgender whom is a post op MTF, I have so much respect for now. She went through the same thing I went through too. I am also finding the parents of these supportive LGBTQ students are also glad I am there for them.

I'm finally back on my normal work schedule. It's so nice to get to sleep late again. I was able to get a good meal before I went to work, too. 😁

I had a runny nose yesterday, but I can also smell wildfire smoke. The air quality index shows smoke in the area from a few fires to the northwest up in the mountains. You might still be getting smoke from the fires in Canada.

A friend (actually two) from my book club arranged for a delivery of a pizza to me!
That was nice.

The pizza was warm but it did not taste very good. The quality either went down or maybe because I am not feeling well my taste buds are not doing well either.

Any way, that was a thoughtful gesture.

I have a friend that had been experiencing the very same symptoms that you have
been posting about including impaired taste and smell, in your reply comments.   

She ended up getting one of those inexpensive Covid test kits ($10) and sure
enough she tested positive.

Her symptoms, as with yours, seemed like a bad cold or a touch of the Flu. 
She mostly got over the worst of it in about 7 days.

I self tested negative for Covid yesterday evening.
I have had that before, for sure.


I hope she recovers very soon.


The Post Office stopped sending out the free Covid self tests but they are not that expensive.

I started assembling my new bedroom dresser. The box was very heavy; 51 kgs / 112.44 lbs. Although the box had some minor damage, the furniture inside is intact. I started reading the assembly instructions. Tools, needed. Check. Power tools recommended. Check. Estimated assembly time: 180 minutes. Wait. What? That's 3 hours!

I have one drawer assembled so far. Yay!

I heard the mail truck outside, so I went and got my mail. One letter from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of Fiscal Services.

To quote the famous Scooby-Doo, "RUT-ROH".

It turns out that when the VA computed my back pay for my disability rating, they made an error. They paid me back to the date of the final decision. They were supposed to pay back to the date of the request for review. So, I got another check to square things up.

It's always a good day to receive money. 

AND... two of Susan_Rose's plants have started to bloom. The Desert Rose had a bud when she arrived, so we are waiting to see if it will open by next weekend when she goes home. But the Purple Heart plant beat her to it with one pretty little pink flower. It's beautiful.

Today is going to be a great day. 

Why do they not pay you back to the date of having the disability or having the disability recognized by medical personnel?  Maybe it is too hard to do that except in the case of a wounding.

It is a complicated formula, but it makes sense. It is assumed that when you served, you were physically fit and not disabled. So your disability cannot go back to the time of the injury, but to the date that you filed the disability claim.

In my case, I requested that my existing rating be reviewed, and I added three more claims. Those new claims were originally paid to the date of the review decision. They realized that was wrong and backdated it to the date of the claim submission. So I got back pay then. Now, they corrected it again and adjusted the date back to the date of the diagnosis (not the date of the injury), which was before the date the claim was filed.

Clear as mud, right? 

I got a surprise today. My nephew asked me my pronouns and what name I'm using. Yeah he live with me and is aware I'm trans. I just said he/they for now and my family nickname is ok for now.
