This is big. This is important. There are a series of threads on the forums about the panel involved in rewriting the DSM, specifically the gender identity section. 3 of the appointed are Drs Blanchard, McHugh, and Zucker, who do not seem particularly friendly to our community. A couple of the others named seem progressive and friendly. Not sure about the others. I suggest writing the new president of the American Psychiatric Association, Nada Stotland, MD, at apa@psych.org
Be polite, concise, and well-argued. I'm pushing for trans-people to be named to the panel, as past panels included "consumers". I have some hope of success in this effort.
