Why I'm not writing about trans stuff anymore

At the conference last weekend, Mary and I were sitting in our various spots in our hotel room and talking about the talks we'd gone to. She'd gone to see Julia Serano talk, and I'd gone to something else, and so we started to talk about Serano's book. Trevor and I had met her the day before, and I found her to be really great, and very modest and awesome when we were talking about her book. I said to Mary that her book had been really important to me, and that it was one of the reasons that I'm not going to write about trans stuff any more. She was surprised, and maybe I was being a little aggressive about it, and we didn't really talk it through. But I have been wanting to lay out for myself a little more clearly why I'm doing this stopping and I thought I'd do it here.
