Homewood attorney Bill Borah, a sexual orientation-discrimination advocate, will receive the 2008 Illinois State Bar Association ( ISBA ) Award for Community Leadership June 27 during the annual meeting in St. Louis.

The Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity bestows the honor.

Among other things, Borah saved a teacher's job in 2005 after a superintendent questioned the educator's sexual orientation, and obtained a remedy for a transsexual in 2006 when a school would not acknowledge her new name.
