or a long time I didn't think so, even REFUSED to believe it when others told me... but I just got voice mail on my phone and was setting up the answering message and played back the recording and i was all "woah dude wtf? This is how well I sound while I have a cold!?"

safe to say, I'm very happy I've been able to achieve a solid voice without gobbing out cash to a specialist or listening to all the wacko voice lesson videos on youtube that never really seem to work.

How is your voice doing? How'd you do it?

What is something transition related in general that shocked you?

My BFF Peggy say I am very passable, especially when I have my makeup on.  But it is really a mind set.  I am a woman and I did give a s*** what the d**n world thinks.

I've wondered this myself. The girls probably have a really tough time getting their voices down. The guys are lucky because T takes care of most of that for them... I think I'll be a bassist after I start T. My voice is already pretty deep...

I am curious how girls get their voice to sound more feminine. I hope I can still sing after T...

lots and lots and lots and loooots of practice over many many months. You try to talk more softly and a higher as long as you can hold, and over the weeks and months you can push it up the next notch. sooner or later you get to a point where it is second nature to talk that way and you dont even know how to go back to talking the other way anymore

LIKE LEARNING HOW TO SING!

I definitely want to know because I WILL enjoy my masculine voice, but I want to still be able to sing well. I like singing soul and I know deepening my voice will make it a deep raspy blues, which is okay (I like that stuff), but I also like funk, and I'm afraid I won't be able to do it anymore if I get really deep.

the thing is with having lengthened vocal cords, is you still have the high vocals as well as the new low vocals. So if you want to still go falsetto while being baritone, you just gotta work out the whole length.

Yes indeed, practice and more practice is the way to do it. Using a recorder of some kind helps a lot too.

Congratulations,

My voice isn't passible :(

To be more precise, my voice isn't female or male; And sometimes it's female. Though I have the problem i'm forcing to much, so I get a sore throat.

Luckily speach therapy is insured here, so she will learn me how to properly use my voice.
First thing i learned now, is to breathe while talking a bit differently.

Today I forced my voice too much, and eventually "lost" it during dinner. I hate using my old, bit male voice, so I'd better not say anything at all.

I hope my speech therapist and I get on with it, before I get problems with my voice indefinetely :(

i've never used a recorder, but i do sing along with the female artists which i believe to be in my range.
i like:

shania twain
samantha mumba-has a really deep voice in baby come on over and gotta tell you this tonight--my two favorites
danielle peck
gwen stefani
tata young-she's thai
fergie

lots and lots of practice does work, but i have also noticed at least around here an increasing number of natal females who have naturally deep voices.

I believe that this is a good method.

I've been trying to increase my voice range, so I've sung along to songs like Earth Angel and Let It Be. Singing seems like fun and fairly effective training. And yes, we all sound terrible at first (girls AND guys). Haha.

Ah, I see. Well, in MY case using a recorder was a huge help. Sometimes, it was very difficult for me to judge my voice accurately so the recorder was a very handy gadget to have (until it died that is). There are times that I have problems due to sinus troubles, though. But oh well, its not the end of the world.

I like to sing with

Shania Twain
Wynona
Cheri some of her older stuff.  Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves. Half Breed.
However I get really upset because my ex use to listen to her when she was going to
                         start in on me.
Patty Page

They are all with in my range.

I use the Sound Recorder on my computer and a microphone.

Lots of Love,
Janet
