I realised I was a gay man trapped in a woman's body when I was 17.

I'd left my all-girls boarding school, moved to London and started hanging out at a gay bar every night.

The girls at school had felt like aliens to me – and they bullied me through most of my teenage years – while the guys at the bar felt like my contemporaries.

I'd had a relationship with one of the girls at school but I didn't like calling myself a lesbian. I didn't identify as a woman and had stopped fancying girls, so I was a bit of a crap lesbian anyway.

OMG I did the same thing. I would sub consciously try to sound like Marilyn Monroe and the thing about horrible girls in school  - I can relate to this guy a lot except for the gay thing. I mean I've had bisexual male lovers who were into it and all but was never into the gay scene - gay or lesbian I should say scene. But never knock it till you try it. lol

Thanks for posting this.

Haha, back when I used to go to Goth and fetish clubs a lot I used to wear wigs and head-dresses all the time!  The only time I didn't feel like a freak was when I was very self-consciously "dressing up" as a girl.  Then I could pretend that all the bits were just accessories, like the clothing...
