Woman kicked out of women's bathroom

http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/local&id=6189330

BEVERLY HILLS (KABC) -- A woman who says she was kicked out of the Beverly Hills Hotel while trying to use the restroom is demanding an apology.

Songwriter Tanya White admits she doesn't dress like the typical woman, but she says security guards went too far when they confronted her in the women's bathroom at the hotel last September.

White claims that even after proving she was a woman, they told her to get out and escorted her off the premises.

This is not exactly the first time this sort of thing has happened.  The owners of the Excel Energy Center in St. Paul settled out of court after they were sued because security guards had abused a woman in one of the women's restrooms.

some of the comments made me laugh, like

Quote from: #30
There's no bigotry involved here, only common sense. If one is going to portray oneself as a man, one should expect to be treated as a man

I'm sure they'd be posting that if it was a ftm instead of a cisgender! Hypocrites would be funny if they weren't so hurtful...

I do admit though that, unless we're saying men should enter in women's restroom,
the security guard at least was right to ask her to identify herself.

She does look like a man and she's very tall also, so its not a borderline case.

But, calling her "it", goes beyond his job and is clearly insulting and lacks professionalism.

Given that hotel, there was more of a problem with her skin color than her gender.  They just could say that.  Having retained Gloria Allred, I'm sure she is going to get a rather nice settlement out of court.

Oh yeah, for those of you who are not from the City of Angles, this is the home of the Polo Lounge, the place the Eagles wrote Hotel California about, and if you want to make them mad, ask to book the bungalow where John Belushi died.  But I stayed there a few years ago when I went down to do Coachella and see Madonna and I did lunch by the pool (a must) and the Polo Lounge in drag, no one batted an eye.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...
