http://kennebecjournal.mainetoday.com/news/local/5139133.htmlA third group that will be circulating petitions today is the Christian Civic League of Maine, which wants voters to repeal a state law prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation, block funding for the state's civil rights teams and prevent unmarried couples from adopting children.
That proposal also would prevent the state from recognizing civil unions and prohibit municipal clerks from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
The Christian Civic League's plan is not a people's veto because it seeks to repeal laws that are already in effect.
