I finished waxing my legs for the first time and it went really well. I got a home kit from the pharmacy for like 8 dollars and went to work. I must say it was not bad at all by the third strip i got the hang of it. I found that the tighter I pulled my skin the easier the hair came out and it really didn't hurt much. So now I have smooth tingly legs but one problem there is still  a bunch of wax on my legs. The directions say wash off the wax when done. I have big news for who ever wrote that  THE STUFF DON'T WASH OFF.  I used rubbing alcohol to clean up the mess I made of my bathroom and it worked well but a test dab on my legs told me NOT. I got in the shower under cool water and was able to get the thicker spots off with soap lotion and a ton of scrubbing but there is still a fine stick film in a lot of places. Does anyone know a easy way (or any way)to get this stuff off ??? LOL  I think I will try sugaring next time since that washes off with water.

At a guess, oil might well work. First use oil (massage oil, cooking oil, or something else that's cheap enough and doesn't smell too gross) to wash away the wax, then regular soap to wash away the oil.

Whoopee! Man, that may have been a small one for Neil, but it's a long one for me.

update:
Well even though waxing was easy the next morning my legs were very red(like sunburn and bumpy) it looked really bad but was gone by the end of the day. So until i can afford laser I think I will be waxing instead of shaving, at least my legs.

I played around with the wax i had left the other day and your right Seshatneferw.  Oil works pretty good. I found olive oil to work ok but the type prolly doesn't matter. I rubbed it on then wiped the wax with a very coarse rag in one direction only with moderate pressure. This made it roll up in a ball and stick to the cloth. I also found out that if you powder your skin the wax doesn't stick to it as bad but it would make each strip  only work once and i have been able to use the strips for about 3 times without it. I did find that after 2 pulls I was missing hairs so i used a blow dryer to soften the wax on the strip and got 1 to 2 more uses from it.

Very good tips! Thanks Krystal.

Now all I need is to find the guts to actually wax. Chickened out of the epilation thing once upon a time ...

It doesn't hurt long and the first time is by far the worst.

for really stubborn spots of left over wax <I use a non strip wax so normal oils don't work well enough> try petroleum jelly... work it in abit and ittle strip the wax right off <rolling it into little balls>

Thanks LynnER
I will give that a try next time.

I found the tighter i pulled my skin the less I felt the strips coming off. When I say tight I mean like so tight your fingers are almost leaving bruises. I know that sounds a bit extreme but it worked. =^_^=. It has been over a week now and my legs are still smooth.

Never use ordinary soap to remove residual wax.  A good shower Gel is perfect or even Olive Oil, the mix of oils loosen wax residues without trauma. Running water under a shower helps but any other wash down method is good enough  :)

Strictly my experience of course  ;)
