I don't "measure up" in many respects.

Welcome to being a dude.  We are comparing ourselves all the time.  If one moron picks up a 70 lb box, then we all have to do it just to prove we can.  Not everyone wants to be the alpha dog, but no-one wants to be the beta dog, we all know what word starts with a 'b'.
