"(Thank you, thank you. On so many other LGBT issues (hate crimes, accommodation/employment discrimination, even school anti-bullying) we can work at state and local levels to effect change that can have immediate impact on LGBT lives in states where there are few if any protections or rights. That's not the same as saying putting zero time, money and effort into marriage equality (or holding pols accountable) by any stretch, but if only as much was spent on the issues that are polling well with the public right now in most parts of the country, advances at that level and social change overall will come along much more quickly as marriage equality occurs in Blue states and the matter moves toward SCOTUS, where it's going to end up anyway.   - promoted by Pam Spaulding)

I started to write this as a comment in the "Michelle Obama connects the dots...from Selma to Stonewall" thread but decided that it is too much of a rant. So I am posting this here, with not much hope that anybody is actually going to read it, but goddammit, I need to get this off my chest.
