Hi all, ok so a couple of questions about your laser hair removal experience

1. Did laser alone remove all your facial hair?
2. How many treatments did it take to get ride of your beard?
3. Was the hair removal permanent, how long has it been?
4. What color is your skin and hair color?

Thanks

1. No, but I only had 4 sessions and I was 19 when I started and my facial hair wasn't that dark at the time too
2. I had 4 treatments then I decided to stop because I believe it did as much as it could for me
3. The last laser treatment I had was in December, and what was gone hasn't come back.  So not that long though.
4. Skin is pretty pale and my hair color was brown/blondish.  Wanted laser to get rid of the brown which it did for the most part.  (about 75%)

Hi Kelly
I just went for my first laser session last week so its a bit early to post results but  heres how it went and a few tips.
After calling around to the different laser places that some girls in my support group recommended I decided to go with American laser.
When I went for the consultation the rep  was straight up about what would work and did a excellent job of explaining the process to me.
( I did a lot of research before going  so I would know if they were telling me the truth or not. )
Then the wheeling and dealing started. Don't be afraid to ask for discounts and try to talk them down their prices are some what flexible.
For me I  used a online coupon for 100$ and got them to take another 300$ off ( that was some unadvertised special) then I found out that the face is one charge and the neck is a separate charge. Even with the discounts I got them to do my neck  and face for just the face price. Since I have light skin and darker hair I am a very good candidate for laser and I got the package that includes 6 sessions and a 2 year guarantee. Total cost was right at 2700$
My first session  went fast and easy. First they tested the laser at different levels on my arm to see how high a setting I could take. Since I work in a high heat environment and have a high pain threshold  we found i could take the max setting no problem. Then they put cooling jell on my face funky glasses on me and started zapping. There was no pain at all and i really only felt the thing a couple of times and this was along the bony areas of my jaw. It felt more like a light poke against the skin than anything else.
Once they were done they cleaned up the jell and gave me some lotion to re-moisturize my skin and some ice packs I let them keep the ice packs since the heat in my face was not near as bad as when i have finished blowing glass for 5 hours. I set up my next appointment and headed home.
They did say to avoid the sun for a few days and wear high SPF sunblock. I use spf 50 anyway so that was no problem.
All that was on Thursday, Friday  my face felt completely normal but i didn't shave. Saturday I shaved and one thing I noticed is I got the cleanest shave I have ever had  and the hair is growing out way slower. I normally would have a shadow within hours after shaving but 24 hours later I barely have a shadow at all.
So far I am  pleased but I will not see huge results till after the second or third treatment from what they have told me. While the price is kind of high I think its going to be well worth it in the long run. =^_^=

It worked well for me.

I did like 12 sessions, but it was sorta pointless after 9 or so. I just tend to get... obsessed.

My facial hairs were dark, my skin light.

It didn't kill the greys. I didn't even know I HAD any greys, lol... until everything else was gone, and there they were. Who knew? Not many though. I just pluck for now. Someday I'm probably electro them.

The oldest areas to be cleared happened like two and a half years ago.

I used the LightSheer laser.

Hi ya' Kelly,

I currently do both; Laser & Electrolysis due to my facial hair having both light and very dark hairs. And yes it's all working...and their both flippin' painful as hell for me, especially the laser on the upper lip.

The last 2 Laser sessions I had came right after my electrolysis sessions. I was still numb from the lidocane injections for electrolysis so some of the pain from laser wasn't so bad, but one time when the upper lip had just been done the flippin' lidocane wore off, bloody hell :o and so no help there for the upper lip area.

I have a lot less to shave now, my cheeks are practically clear...except for those damn upper and lower lip areas. I started laser / electrolysis on 12/05/07, and I usually do 3 1/2 hour sessions of electrolysis @ $65.00 an hour and the laser is discounted for TG grl's from $300.00 to only $225.00!!! I do about 2 sessions of electrolysis a month, 1 every 2 weeks and then the laser session every six weeks after the last electrolysis session, unless they want to do both the same day as previous stated which is rare.

I go to http://www.arizonaelectrolysis.com/ here in Phoenix Az. They are all great gal's and HUGE supporters of the TG community here.

Good luck!!!

Any one had success with the Rio home laser machine?

I've had one laser session at this point, that was 5 weeks ago (also with American Laser Centers) they quoted me the same 2700, but gave me a 50% discount, apperently they're a newly opened branch and it's a promo to get customers in?

I didn't argue.

after one session, 5 weeks later, I have patches where hair has not grown back on my chin, and my hair actually grows in three thin lines on the left cheek (missed a spot?) and is just a little patchy on the right.

I'm heading back in for the second session on the 5th, so far I'm happy with the results, and the fact that it takes 30 minutes to do a full beard, rather then the hair by hair pain of electrolysis.

I just read in another thread here that the effects aren't permanent though, so now I'm a bit apprehensive.

My thought process was to use laser to clear most of my hair, and then electrolysis to clean up the stray light hairs. :(

Can we get some feedback from people who did Laser 5-6 years or more ago?

Oh, I also got the 2 year guarantee, and they do financing and offer a year interest free to pay off the procedure.

I've go the latest 60x version.

I picked it up cheap through a friend, but this thing normally costs £250 to£300.

All the Rio lasers are rather cumbersome and take a long time to work on small areas, so they are really only any use for the face, or retouch.

I'm only just at the early stages of checking it out, but so far the Tria still sounds like a better option at £700.

Neither are as good as professional sessions.

I have had five so far and no regrowth.  But I will find out as I have to stop because of limited funds.  So I guess I will do the plucking trick.  :P

Three sessions in and all I am left with is some patches of thin hair.   I am extremely happy with the results so far and with three sessions to go I am sure all the hair will be gone.  I am told that I may need a touch up session in seven or eight years

Myself

2 sessions and I barely have hair left!
But I think long term is more of a question than short term.

I have quite a pale skin, quite a black or very blackish brown hair (not sure if it's the same as my head hair, this one might be just black)

I had less hair than most people my age, I was even told they seen much more hairy girls than me, and they meant PCOS or something I guess...... never had hair on the cheek, only the sides next the ears, most of the hair was at the chin and under the nose.

Now I am about 5 weeks from second treatment, so some might come back still, hopefully not, looking in the mirror..
I might have 20-30 hairs at the mustache and maybe 30-50 hairs at the chin, but maybe less.
That's the whole big chin area though!

I shave almost daily because I hate them and people who see me on the street don't notice hairs at all.
My friend did myt eyebrows and only noticed them when she was really close and inspecting me carefully.

I've had long term 7+yrs of positive results of both laser & electrolosis(1 1/2yrs actual treatment). I have fair skin & dark brunette hair, so I was a good canidate for laser. Both laser & electrolosis results are perm. I started with electro because I was lead to beleive laser wasn't perm(a lie). I have suffered no ill effects from laser, but have an upper lip peppered with small pits from electro, although nothing like acne scares. My advice is find out what laser can & cannot do, & only then use electro to play cleanup. Laser was far less painful numbing cream & all.
