Hi i'm new to this forum and I hope nobody here will bash a person for using poor grammer. The last forum site that I went to allowed two members to bash me on an open forum for using poor grammer. I do my best but sometimes I get to typing and forget to use punctuation and really don't enjoy being needled for it so I hope we can make a fresh start here hugs and kisses Bredalee

Hi Brebalee

One of the rules that alows people acces to this forum is they are not aloud to pick on anyone directly. They may dispute as much as they want the topic being discussed but may not attack that person verbaly. If you have any problems with regards to the boards please donot hesitate to contact any on the moderators or administrative staff for assistance. By the way Welcome to susans forums

No, we're not going to pick on you for spelling or grammar. And, as an added benefit, there are a number of people here who write with impeccable English, so perhaps you'll even get a chance just to absorb some of that if you're not confident about your spelling or grammar. Not having the skills is nothing to be ashamed about. It's like anything else - you read lots, you write lots, and you'll learn it.

Welcome, look around, feel free to post (within the rules, of course) and, when you feel comfortable, tell us about yourself.

Thank you debbee and dennis you make me feel very welcome here and I look forward to posting alot of threads here as well as replies to others. My spelling is really good my problem is in the use of punctuation I really can't understand where it is needed or used it was my poorest subject in school. So I shall look around and then i'll tell you about my situation and degree to which I crossdress hugs and kisses Bredalee

Welcome, Bredalee, to Susan's!

I've always been lucky to be able to put a coherent sentence together without really trying.  But not everyone can and putting someone down because they can't is pure insane!  It's too bad that some people can only feel superior by putting others down.  I have very rarely seen that in this forum and when it happens, the consequences are swift and fair.  There's nothing to fear about that here.

A small suggestion: many word processors have grammar checkers built in - perhaps you can write your notes there first and then copy them into your posts here.  That would make your posts a little easier to read and understand.  And by following what the grammar checker shows you, you might get a better feel on how to do it yourself.  But if this isn't an option, that's OK too.  If I don't understand something I'll just ask.

So, feel free to post here and let us kow about yourself!  I have been a member of this forum since last December and was reading it for many months before then.  It has helped me a great deal in discovering who I really am.  I hope that it will be the same for you or even better.

Again, WELCOME!

Darn, Dennis! I had this great line about how we don't bash people over grammar issues, that we reserve the vat of boiling oil for spelling mistakes!

Anyway, make yourself at home, Brenda. I'm sure that we can figure out what you're saying, and that's all that really matters.

Brenda,

There was a book on the best-seller list last year Eats Shoots and Leaves about punctuation and grammar.  It was by a rather pedantic British author.  Some of my colleagues in the English department had a lot of fun pointing out the typos and grammatical errors in the book.   ;D

The grammar we use when we talk is different from writing a essay.   I like to look at this is a long extended verbal visit, so I am mmmmore informal.
