If you've been near a make-up counter in the lat few years, you
won't have missed the increasing range of cosmetic "lip plumping"
products around.

They fall into two distinct groups....

          A) Products that make lips appear fuller by using reflections
              or coatings

          B) Products that clain to either temporarily or permanently
(over time) increase the lip volume. (Often referred to as
              the "Bee Sting" effect)

The effects of the "A" products are fairly obvious, but I was wondering
if anyone has had any success with the type "B" products, that are
actually supposed to give a physical result.

To start the ball rolling, I have tried Skin Doctors "Perfect Pout" and
found although it tingled a bit and seemed to have an initial effect, this
soon wore off. At best there was a slight redness around the edge of
my lips after aout 30 mins. :-\

So I'm thinking that apart from the phsycological effects, if these
products really worked as well as they claim, then they probably
couldn't be sold over the counter (like so many other "great ideas") ? ::)

I have actually seen a "sting" effect work, but I would not
recommend it to anyone due to the risk of side effects... A freind
of my daughter, actually does sting her lips with "nettles" and apply lip
balm to amazing effect. She goes from average/thin lips, to Anjelina Joli in
about 10 minutes, and keeps the look foe about 3 hours. I'm not sure I
would want to go that far, it's certainly cheap, but apart from the pain
(although it doesn't seem to worry her) there's always a risk of an allergic
reaction..... :o

Hi Ronda,

The nettle thing does work, but you risk an allergic reaction that could be serious...

..as for novacaine and dentists ..Nichole sounds like the expert here... ;D
