-waves- Hi everybody!
I'm Adrien. You all probably know my mom. "hizmom." She's pretty fabulous, I'll admit. I guess here are the messy details.
I grew up under heavy religion [recently uncovering all of the cult-ish aspects.] I began exploring different possibilities of sexual orientation three or so years ago, trying to cling on to "normalcy," which would actually be majority, rather than minority. Bi-sexuality evolved into lesbianism evolved into my acceptance of my own gender identity.
Growing up, I was always "ken" or the father figure in house as small examples. The yearn to be just like my older brothers was present. Tomboyish was putting it lightly, if you ask me.
About a year ago, I admitted it to myself, only a few months before discovering the term transgender along with my first transgender friend. A fellow FtM teenager.
He was the first person [beside myself] that I came out to, only denying that all of the things I thought were there, weren't, so I once again buried the feelings and thoughts.
After an "incident" occurred in November of 2007 did I uncover the feelings and thoughts of being transgender. Shortly after the incident, my mom was alerted and after questioning if she'd use gender-neutral pronouns did the question arise, to which I confirmed. That might've been in a range from anywhere between December - February.
I'm about as far transitioned as I can be, with loads of support from my mother and friends around the country, though I'm only out to a few people in our small community, which will change this school year, I believe.
Anyway, thought I'd let you all know I'm here and learning and hoping to bring a small something to the community you've created.
Oh! Let's throw in a few details!
I was born July 20th. Only child in my family NOT Born in the month of May.
Mom, and most other people, tell me I'm mature beyond my years. I'll allow you to be the judge.
I'm in high school.
I hope to start a GSA in my high school and educate the students and teachers on LGBT[etc.] issues and of my gender identity.
I am the youngest of four children.
I painted my room purple in the spring of 2007 and I love it.
I play guitar and sing. I write my own songs and hope to being recording my first album professionally this month.
I'm a GLSEN Student Organizer, and a "baby activist" if you will. I wish to be more of an activist and educate myself on what's going on in the world so I can use my knowledge to make a greater stand.
I want to make a change in the world, even if it seems small at the time.
I hope to be going to creating change in Denver, Colorado Jan. 28 - Feb. 2 [I think those are the right dates.]
I have a pinkish birthmark on my right ankle that "disappears" when you rub/stretch the skin.
I'm afraid of chickens, and I love band-aids.
Hope you were slightly entertained.
Have a good one! =]
