hey everyone,

A bit about me. I'm 28 and ever since I can remember I've been a tomboy. I've never worn makeup, haven't worn a dress since I was like 7 and just don't relate to anything girly. My parents were ok with it when I was a kid, then when I hit the teenage years, we fought all the time about how I looked and acted and my haircuts. Then as I got older getting married and having kids (because thats all there is to life?? wtf). Anyways now they think I am just a lesbian (About 8 years ago, I told them I like girls, so they just assumed that's want I meant). I moved away from them (12 hours by car, lol) 2 years ago and have finally worked up the courage to start being who I want to be. It's been pretty good so far, I am seeing a therapsit and since I am generally pretty well rounded and happy with the rest of my life we only have to focus on my gender issues nothing else, which is cool.

I've had the name Alex for a while now. Its the name I want to be known as now, I like it for alot of reasons. First, it can apply to either a boy or a girl, so I can use it the whole way through. Second Alex Kidd in Mircale World is like the best retro game ever made, (seriously, Sega Master System still rules today). Another great reason is the meaning of the name Alex - Protector of Mankind. How cool is that? Kind of like John Connor, you know? From Terminator. Protector of Mankind - I really like that

Anyways looking forward to getting to know you guys and I'll probably need loads of tips and stuff, feel free to drop me a line anytime, I'm pretty easy going and fairly open, so I'll try to be honest with any answers I give

Cheers
Alex

Your early years sound simular to my early years.

Welcome, good to see another brother.
Every day we pass people, do we see them or the mask they wear?
If you live under a mask long enough, does it eventually break or wear down?  Does it become part you?  Maybe alone, they are truly themselves?  Or maybe they have forgotten or buried themselves so long, they forget they are not a mask?

Welcome Alex, I hope you will feel at home at Susan's.
They're a really friendly bunch over here.

I like the name Alex, I was thinking about using it for myself as well for a while. I'm kinda partial towards Vincent now, though.

Take care,
PolarBear

I agree. It seems like the FTM crowd has grown a lot. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention before though. Anyways, welcome Alex. I'm sure you'll find Susan's a valuable resource for information and support.
