Right now my best friend and 1st cousin Randee Riot is at her all-time favorite event, The annual Michigan Womyn's Music Festival, otherwise known as Fest or Michfest. According to the Michigan's Womyn Festival Wikipedia page the festival was set up as:

    ...a response to misogyny, sexism and homophobia,[citation needed] MWMF was created in 1976 by 19-year-old Lisa Vogel, her sister Kristie, and Mary Kindig, the We Want the Music Collective. All three were working-class women from Michigan who had seen female musicians and stagehands demeaned and repeatedly harassed at festivals and venues run by men.

    MWMF created (and continues to create) a feminist alternative, and a niche for lesbians in the music scene. It continues to create an annual place for living out lesbian feminist politics. Many queer women feel safe and "at home" at Michigan, with the result that lesbian-identified women are among the 3,000-10,000 women who attend each year.

The Mich Fest is very controversial because of it'd gender policies.  "Womyn born womyn" only is the policy.  In recent years they allowed the f to m partners of women to attend but m to f women remain excluded.  The male children of participants are also allowed.

Living in Michigan, I get invited to this thing all the time. I could slide in without a problem, but I'll never go because I think their exclusionary policy is inconsistent and assinine.

In my opinion there is nothing wrong with dykes, now, this camp's policies...well that's just messed up. As far as granola bars are concerned, those things are so bad for you despite what the advertisers may tell you.

I tried to make the change sooner, Zythyra!! But, the troubles I have staying connected to the site just continue unabated. I couldn't get a connection to stick until now. Typing is not a strong suit!!

As do I,  Preferrably in the breakfast bar at a posh hotel.  The Starbucks's Parfaitt is a regular on-the-go breakfast for me too.  Granola bar dykes are fine with me...so long as they stay in Berkeley where they belong!

Let me clarify something.  Where I live "dyke" is not a pejorative.  Neither is "queer".  My lesbian friends (lipstick variety) use the term all the time as an adjective.  I also have lesbian friends that are kind of crunchy and wear Birkenstocks.  I just don't want to sleep on the ground with them.  Tekla, if you think the town is over run with granola types I'd suggest you check out The Lex or most anyplace else in the Valencia to Dolores corridor.
