Okay so my brand new GF has joined... and I can't remain in hiding anymore... will therefore become active here again, posting ... 

thought I might give this forum section another chance of coming to live... i mean, REALLY...

It cant be that the very few peeps who;ve posted in this section are the only ones who see themselves as genderqueer out of all 750-something members of this site!!!
where are you?? who are you? what are you? why?

Whenever I've been called a queer I say, "Queer but not gay!"

But I'm still in the middle of finding out who/what/where I am in the continuum.  Right now I feel like I'm in between both genders so I guess I fit somewhere within the genderqueer definition but I still feel that I'm moving and have not found my true place, if you can imagine what I mean.  I am presnting more and more with attributes from both ends of the spectrum, though.

I wonder if the negative connotations of the word, "queer" have something to do with the lack of posts here?

I'm not sure that the negative connotations are a big issue... I mean, queer is one of those pejorative terms that is being reclaimed effectively... though maybe the meaning of queer as genderqueer as opposed to queer standing for homosexual is not that widely known yet. Several people have told me they did not know the TG meaning of "queer".

For me all meanings of the word apply, I'm queer in every w(h)i(t)ch g(w)ay!

Well, I don't really know. I might be genderqueer, I'm still trying to figure everything out. Though I am pretty sure I'm more male than female, it's finding out just how much more that is the problem right now.

I geuss I'll figure it out eventually.

   Very interesting question! I hope my response will be of some use or intrest. I do not know where I am. I know i'm male (physically) but there has been continual thoughts about "it did feel good to CD." I see myself as a male and I want to be one but i find it hard to come to a balance between my male characteristics and female characterisitics without seperating the two. Its a daily struggle but I know with each day I grow stronger. I apologize if this is off topic at all but this is how I feel about my gender.

That's one of the big differences between a transsexual and a crossdresser.  The crossdresser is perfectly fine being their birth gender, whereas the transsexual can't stand it and has to transition.

In addition to that, often (not always!) a transsexual tends to wait until they simply cannot deal with their birth sex any longer and it becomes a "choice" of transition, or die.  I SO envy the young among us in this regard, realizing and acting upon while not encumbered by the situations adult life tends to throw at us.

Because I'm a M2F transsexual, and because I'm atracted to men, society calls me as being gay, but I really like HelenW's reply. Whenever someone tells me that I'm gay, I'll just tell them that I'm not gay but I'm 'QUEER," and I'll leave it at that.

I really like your thoughts Melissa, on the differences between a cross-dresser and a transsexual. I  agree  100% with you there.

I agree with Melissa also.  Young transsexual people now have it better than we did, there is more information available now than when I was young.

Just as a side note, genderqueer isn't about sexual orientation, rather about basically identifying as neither female nor male.

P.s. when someone tries to peg me in some sexual orientation or another I always want to know why they care...  >

I'm finding the word "queer" to be used to describe anyone "not normal" (as interpreted by mainstream society). So, we're all queer!

"Queer", if you look it up in a dictionary, will usually have the basic definition "peculiar; rare", before any particular reference, such as 'a male homosexual'. EG: Queer as a three-dollar bill. 
I am at least as queer as that!

I feel each of us has to find their own way.   We can just shed a light on the journey and walk with each other for a while as fellow human beings.   There are pot holes in everybodies life.   When I fall into one,  I am thankful for those who help me crawl out.    I also thank those who shined their light of understanding for me and kept me from falling into some really deep pot holes.    I may not know where I am going.   I just hope that I know when I get there.

That's very interesting.  I've never heard an FTM talk about liking female clothes (nothing wrong with that IMO).  If you did transition and crossdress, you would at least have the advantage of having a female skeleton, and therefore a much easier time passing, than the traditional CDs.  PErsonally, I can't think of any reason you couldn't just wear male clothes now.  If it's about removing breasts, having male sex drive, strong muscles and lots of hair all over your body, then transition may be something to consider.

Got to agree mens clothing is very boring.  It's too bad that there is such opposition to men wearing the pretty colours that women are able to with out being considered gay.

historically speaking the 'gay color' (a predilection for gay colors) is a lot to do with "gay" eventually indicating "homo". When did the male develop an aversion to this?

Who knows.  I know at my work I wore a brightly coloured shirts and one of the comments from a UPS driver was "what did you do raid your wifes closet".  I said "yes do you like it".  People can be idiots.
