im really considered coming out as of late. ive been cding every chance i get and been doing 2-3. ive read reactions from parents but none from teen transexuals if any could tell me how that went for any teens if u had done it would be apreaitaed... i really as of late just want 2 wear and be a girl alot more. when i cd i dont wanna go back as most of u know. i really want my mom 2 know b.c my dad is out of town, but school just started . i dont know how she will react at all. she almost caught me 1 time but i locked down and took bra off and lipstick off. then she didnt really know. and im from midwest region so idk if that will play but my family is not religous. i just want clothes that fits me b.c my mom clothes are 2 big. and i cant drive just yet almost like very very soon. i havent seen many reactions from parents who have ts teens any 1 could plz help ? ik every 1 is different but i just want like hormones or something :? so idk
any way 2 get things with hormones in it ? ik birth control i mean anything like pills not pesrcusion

I think most of our transgirls are older, but we've got a few transmen here who came out and/or started transition in their teens. At any rate they got the ball rolling and they're getting closer to achieving their goals, so it can be done.

How old are you? I'm 17 and I'm waiting another year to come out, for a few reasons:

1. I've only been having real serious gender issues for about a year, and I want to be sure this is what I want before I "out myself".
2. This time next year, I'll be at college in New York. I will be more in control of my life, and that includes transition.
3. Again, I'll be at college. And that means living away from home. It just isn't an option for me to transition while I live at home. My dad would make my life hell.

You're gonna need a therapist to get hormones. It's dangerous to do anything else.

I came out as trans to someone when I was 16.  She was a queer mentor of sorts and told me to keep my mouth shut for five years.  At the time, I thought she was being horribly cruel.  I now realize it was the smartest thing I could've done- I needed to be completely independent if my coming out did not go well.  I needed to be at a social, emotional and financial place where I could transition, not just think about it. 

I'd say wait, if you can.  If you can't, try to out yourself gently (yeah, right) and don't forget to duck.

 I'm 17 and came out to my mam 5 or 6 years ago but she thought it was just a phase. I haven't told anyone since and I won't for a few years cause I can't get treatment (hormones, therapy etc.) until I can move country due to lack of facilities in the Republic of Ireland where I live. So you need to have a plan for if your parents react bad (God forbid) and if you don't you should wait until you have one.I hope that helped in some way and in future I'll try make more sense when I write

I was 14 when I "came out" but in 1964 nobody knew what a "transsexual" was so I just kept insisting "I AM a girl but the body is screwed up".

What was it like? Well I was forever walking on the edge of a precipice - one step too far and they would put me in the nut-house or force-feed me testosterone! Mainly my mother tried to ignore it and I kept pushing it as far as I dared. It didn't turn out well. At age 24 SRS became available and my mother said she would disown me if I went - I went, and I got disowned.

I figured I'd put my two cents worth in, seeing as I've just turned 18 and still live at home. I've not come out to my parents yet, for the main reason of me still being financially dependent on them. If they dont take it well, and I get kicked out for some reason, I want to know that I will be able to support myself.

As for your clothing situation, I find it easy to get clothes. I just go shopping! haha. Whether it be online or in store. I guess it depends on if you drive, have friends that drive, or, even more so, have the money.

I guess what I'm saying is to wait until you can analyze things a little more. I'm in the same boat as Lindsey and waiting until I'm not here anymore. Sorry if none of this was a help. haha
