Hasselhoff: America's Got Transsexuals!

I was watching "America's Got Talent" last night.  Guilty pleasure, I know, but what struck me as notable is that they have had three non-traditionally-gendered people in the competition (I hestitate with "transgender" because I don't know for certain) -- a Britney Spears impersonator (hot!), a Tina Turner impersonator (eh.), and an female opera singer who could self-duet, tackling both the soprano and the baritone (impressive).

Hey, I saw that too! I was like "wow!"

Granted, at the same time, I was watching with an SO, who knows about me, so I was frankly nervous at the same time  .

edit: When I was watching, I was thinking too, "This won't take long to end up on Susan's!" 

Yeah, I saw that too. Was trying to figure out why Hasselhoff's comment bugged me. I read the comments on Pam's House Blend and I think partly it is the condescension in it, substitute black, Jew, or any other minority and that pops out. The other part is that if Hasselhoff thinks that America is the most accepting of trans people, he's clearly grossly ignorant.
