On another note, I found this link about the Klein Sexual Orientation Grid somewhere else, but to my surprise, it only had six alternatives, not seven as the one you cited.  I took the online test and I obtained an average of 0.38!  :P

i think this is a slightly altered version, ive never seen fetish mentioned in Klein's before. I'm not an expert on Fritz Klein by any stretch, but i get the impression (from what little I know) that he wouldn't mind as long as people are finding themselves.

The online version that Tink linked to uses a numerical scale of 0 to 6, just like Kinsey. How come this goes from 1 to 7?

When I totaled and averaged the numbers according to the OP's version, I got 6.14.
Then with the same answers on a scale of 0 to 6, as in the online version, I got, of course, 5.14.

Anyway, going according to the OP's instructions, I selected number 6 (which corresponds to a Kinsey 5).
Here's what I find about compromise--
don't do it if it hurts inside,
'cause either way you're screwed,
eventually you'll find
you may as well feel good;
you may as well have some pride

Hetero/Gay Lifestyle: 3, 6, 5. That's complicated by the fact that up until a few years ago I mistakenly believed myself to be "straight" and tried to fit in in the straight world. Which is a common thing anyway for members of the LGBT community in general.

My chart averages to 5.26 on the 0-7 scale, or I'm at 4.95 according to the calculator site with the 0-6 scale.

Because that part, as I specified in my writing on the subject, is about whether you have participated, do participate, or want to paticipate in gay or straight community/culture. For example, back in Minneapolis there was a gay coffee shop and down 2 blocks there was a straight one. If one is more "gay/queer/ally/whatevs" they would probably choose the gay shop because the culture there is more to their comfort. if they are more "straight" they might be more comfortable at the straight shop.

Of course this is only an example--whos to say which has better coffee, more comfortable chairs, better amenities? i personally would decide based on that unless i had a specific need to be in a Gay Space at the time.

Scale of 1-7 = 6.76

Never really thought of myself as that Gay! ;D

BTW the scales are 1-6 or 1-7, so surely the lowest possible result is 1.00 and the highest 6.00 or 7.00 respectively. Am I missing something here, never was any good at maths...

No, the scales are the same size in either case: If it only goes up to 6, then it starts at 0 (same as Kinsey). If it goes up to 7, then it starts at 1 (which is how this thread was introduced, for some unknown reason). If you got 6.76 on the 1-7 scale, then just drop a whole number, it would be 5.76 for you, Kinsey style. I think. I knew this would get confusing...

Not in the least-- I meant that whatever value n you input on the 1 to 7 scale is equivalent to n-1 on the 0 to 6 scale. So if on the former scale your result is x, then on the latter scale it would be exactly x-1.

The confusion is because the Klein grid originally posted by iFindMeHere is scaled with 1 as the lowest number and 7 as the highest. Then Tink posted a link to the same Klein grid, identical to the first except that the numbers ran from 0 to 6. That's why I was careful to specify which scale I got my results on. See above--
