IT'S RELATIVELY EASY to to grasp the intellectual concepts surrounding
people who are born intersex. With a little effort, most people can
imagine that they face challenges, decisions and possible hardships
specific to their circumstance.

But Argentine director Lucia Puenzo allows viewers to put a human face
on the issues in her film "XXY," opening Sept. 12 at Midtown Art
Cinema. The film may be just the education some viewers need to
really begin to understand intersex people.
