You can laugh at how the opposition is this completely batsh*t, but these are Sarah Palin's kind of peeps, and she would be one heartbeat away from the presidency.

Hundreds of pastors have called on their congregations to fast and pray for passage of a ballot measure in November that would put an end to gay marriage in California.

The collective act of piety, starting Wednesday and culminating three days before the election in a revival for as many as 100,000 people at the San Diego Chargers' stadium, comes as church leaders across California put people, money and powerful words behind Proposition 8.

Can prayers cancel each other out?  I have a vision of a church in which everyone is praying that god doesn't answer the prayers of the person next to them.

The tax exempt status of churches is based on the fact that they are not politically active. If they use their resources to promote a political decision then they are lobbyists and need to pay taxes like every other lobbyist.

I think it's sad that Christians act so unchristly.  I can see god rolling his eyes and shaking his head over this.  For my part I'll be praying for more love, understanding, forgiveness in myself, and that the big G will take away my anger and allow me to be accepting of whatever happens.   Then I'll be happily imagining very disappointed at the pearly gates.  Especially when they have to put on pink dresses and kiss each other on the lips... Look, a couple of years ago, when they had power, they were all about organizing the vote and all that.  They know they are as good as toast, so they resort to praying and fasts?  Really, you're going to fast to affect the outcome of an election in California?  Wow, you just as nuts as the rest of the people who live here.

I just read my post, boy do I have to learn to proof-read.  Ack!
I don't mind the Christie's Conservatives praying and fasting.  It uses up the energy they might have put into book burning, building concentration camps, and beating the crap out of LGBT folk and other minorities.  It keeps them out of the gun shops too, and that can't be a bad thing.  I think that any god I could respect must be sitting up there laughing at them, while he arranges a few improvements to the world down here.  I can believe that, honestly, it's slow and all, but things have been improving for humanity over the past 2k years.
