Get ongoing help with your job search @ The Center!  The Center's Workforce Development Program is pleased to announce a free, Job Seekers Workshop. Computers with Internet access will be provided.

How to participate:
Contact David Bach by e-mailing davidb@sfcenter.org or calling 415-865-5534 to confirm your space. Because the building is not open to the public until noon, attendees must be at The Center's main door lobby at 9:45am sharp to gain admittance.

Hi Tink, don't know if everyone is having the same problem but this is the third site I have tried to open and all I get is the sign in thigie to send an email to davidb@sfcenter.org Or am I missing something?

Pre Job Fair Workshop

Transgender Economic Empowerment Initiative (TEEI) is hosting a pre-job fair workshop specifically for the transgender community. Get some practical advice about how to maximize your job fair experience for the TLGB Job Fair 8.4. In this workshop you will learn how to prepare for a job fair, and gain a deeper understanding of how to network with employers and colleagues and follow up with connections. You'll even get some resume tips! By the end of the workshop, every participant will have some tangible goals for this job fair and a strategy to reach those goals. Join us to learn how to make the job fair experience more productive for your job search and career needs! (Please bring your resume if you have one.)

When:  Tuesday, October 7th, 5.30 - 7pm

Ask the Experts!

A panel of hiring experts will share their knowledge on job search, application process and job interviews. Led by Kari S McAllister, Operations Coordinator at the Performing Arts Center, recruiting professionals will offer tips, tactics, tools and techniques they use in the hiring process. This event will get you fully prepared for the TLGB Job Fair 8.4 on October 15th.

When: Wednesday, October 8th, 12 – 2 pm

TLGB Job Fair 8.4

Job Fair 8.4 is the Bay Area's premier LGBT workforce recruitment event, for the first time with a focus on transgender job seekers. Job opportunities include customer service, administrative, sales, technology, data entry, management, executive, retail, mail order, and call center positions. When: Wednesday, October 15th, 11am – 3pm (Transgender focus between 11am – 12.30pm)

Post Job Fair Workshop

In this workshop you will have an opportunity to discuss your job fair experience with other members of the transgender community, learn strategies for following through with your job leads, and make a plan to turn some of those handshakes into interviews.

Hi Meghan, thank you for the re-post on the link, it works fine now. I have passed it along to our TS program coordinator, It was very interesting and I beleive it would make very much a difference how one of our girls can prepare by dressing accordingly for a particular job and how to present in a credible fashion when going for job interviews.

Thanks Tink and thank you also again Meghan. We have been trying to get a program very similar to this one here at the TS support group here in Vancouver. That was what caught my attention to this sight. It would be wonderful to see such a worthy program project started here, of course I admit I would love to have a part in it. Another episode in the life and times of the country girl moves to big city saga huh. ;D
