According to my driver's license, I'm now legally male. 

This morning I got a ma'am at the DMV followed by a Sorry about that, Sir!     when she saw my paperwork.  That was followed up with two Sirs at the bank, with an Oh after handing them my name change paperwork.

This is so cool!

Now to work on my brother with the pronouns.  He was telling the electrician today all about me: She this, She that, She the other thing.     After the electrician leaves, I'm showing him my DL and tell him to lay off the she's.  Politely, of course.

Congrats on the updated docs...  but is the electrician really that important?  How many times are you going to see this guy? I mean is the check you're going to pay him with say Jay or Judy?  Does the guy updating your wiring really need to know that you're FTM, or can he just go about his day, collect his cash and vanish from your life?

The electrician has no idea I'm trans, and I didn't tell him.  Hearing my brother refer to me as SHE was a reminder to myself to tell my brother that he needs to try to use male pronouns when referring to me, as I had not yet asked him to do that.  It was something I was waiting to do until my legal name change went through, and I had an M on my driver's license.  Both have happened, so it's time to ask for the pronouns.

When the guy was gone, I said, Hey, Bro!  Congrats!  You now have a brother!  And I showed him my license and asked him to call me he/him.  He said he'd try to remember, and I said that's all I ask.  My kids will probably out me more than anyone though, by yelling MOM!! out in public.

I loved Idgie way back when I first saw the movie. (And the second time. And the third time too, lol.) Never saw her as trans though. She was a tough girl who knew how to take ->-bleeped-<- (is that allowed) and stand on her own. Really great to see how the relationship between her and Ruth developed.
