Played Like a Fool: Campaign Manager Cashes in on McCain's Cold War Mentality
By Mark Ames and Ari Berman, The Nation. Posted October 14, 2008.

He may talk tough about Russia, but John McCain's advisers have advanced Putin's imperial ambitions and made good money on the side.

Yet despite McCain's tough talk, behind the scenes his top advisers have cultivated deep ties with Russia's oligarchy -- indeed, they have promoted the Kremlin's geopolitical and economic interests, as well as some of its most unsavory business figures, through greedy cynicism and geopolitical stupor. The most notable example is the tale of how McCain and his campaign manager, Rick Davis, advanced what became a key victory for the Kremlin: gaining control over the small but strategically important country of Montenegro.

You know what?  I wouldn't be surprised to see a conspiracy on the Russia vs. Georgia thing.

I know that we were complicite in Georgia's heavy hand in South Osettia which started this whole thing.  And guess when it all came down.  I wouldn't be surprised if it came out that it was a strategy to create some sort of October crisis which would favor the Republicans.  It looks like it backfired.

We already know that Bush has suspended all discussions with Iran due to the political process here at home.  Our administration had the audacity to put it in writig to Iran!
