Clear Lake, IA- Bullying is a growing problem in many school systems.
One major Midwest city is looking at a possible solution to bullying
in its schools. The idea is to help one of the most targeted groups
of students.

Later this month the Chicago school board will consider an all gay,
lesbian, bi, and transsexual school. The idea is to create a safer
place for the students. More than half of all gay, lesbian,
bi-sexual, and bi-sexual students admit to feeling unsafe at high
school.

a lot of gay people i know are heterophobic - well, not phobic - they are just prejudiced against them.
a lot of heterosexual people i know are homophobic well, not phobic - they are just prejudiced against them.

but the people i know who know lots of homosexual and heterosexual people tend not to be...

would seem the solution is not to split the two apart like that.

I don't think segregation, even if voluntary, is the right move.  If they were proposing an all black or all white school, this would be a no brainer.  It smells like a plot by the religious right to reduce the GLBT presence at their childrens' schools.
