Pickens ha been promoting wind energy as a way to solve the energy problem.

He started a company called Mesa Water which bought 200,000 acre of land with water rights in Roberts county Texas for 75 million. He expects to sell the ground water to Cities in Texas for billions. Mean while he is asking for billions of handout from the Federal Government to build wind generators to provide electricity to the Texas grid but only after he gets the power to this remote area to run the pumps. He also will have to build roads to service these windmills and is asking the Texas utility to provide power lines. As all his part is a special tax write off.Once this land has water roads and power it will be much more valuable. The end result is Pickens stands to make 10's of billions.

Water is a public asset and should not be under private control or be a profit making business. This under ground water should not be pumped faster than nature can replenish it. This is down right public theft. The Federal Government needs to pass a law that there is only non profit control of water.
