Strap-ons: Use them or not?

I'm just curious about you all's feelings towards strap-ons as far as sexual encounters go, whether solo or not.

I'm only asking because for one I'm curious, but also I recently purchased a very good quality silicone strap-on, only it was much more than just that. Aside from a realistic length and girth along with a decently defined glans (though not as defined as I'd like) it also has an oval-shaped part that goes inside you to provide more stimulation. It's clearly a step-up from the boring old ones that require a harness and look far from realistic (although this one is dark purple colored, it's better than light pink lol).

I'm really satisfied with it so far, and it seems to be helping with my dysphoria a little, but I figure that this particular type while of good quality, would not be appealing to most of you if you ever considered it an option. It seems like many of you dislike the thought of  putting anything inside your vagina, although this could most certainly be used in the other orifice, but that's beside the point.

Have you ever used one?
Would you?
Why or why not?

To those curious about what I bought, it is a Feeldoe by Tantus.

I personally want one of those.  My main issue with the Feeldoe and Share are that they come in hideous colors.  But as far as using one, I'm game.

The dark purple that I got isn't so bad, and they have black and red too, but the colors are exclusive to the size; more than anything I wish they had decent flesh tones.

I would like to get one when I get a decent job. I want one that has a scrotom and feels and looks realistic. That's probably going to be somewhat costly, so it might wait until after top surgery. I'm pretty much hoarding all of my money for that surgery...

I would NOT like to have one that goes inside of my vagina. ->-bleeped-<-ing YUCK. It wouldn't hurt to have a bulp for clitoral stimulation though-- I think of that litle thing as my glans, the tip of my tiny penis that's hiding inside of me.

I do not want one that sticks on with medical adhesive or something, I think mine will actually have a harness. Besides, I think sex with clothes on is pretty hot, so it all works out.

I think it would be a good tool for my anal experimentation, too.

I too would like to have something more realistic with scrotum, but what I bought is a good first step (for me) and hopefully in the future there will be much better things.

Medical adhesive would turn me off as well and I could deal with a harness. You're right though, the clitoris is pretty much just like a glans anyways, as far as sensitivity, only there's a lot more nerves packed in there than on the glans of a penis.

That sounds similar to the one I have, (it's from Good Vibrations) but sadly, I've never got the chance to use it on anyone else. Sigh, the whole idea scares my husband... I'm not sure WHAT he's going to do when I (hopefully!) get a real one. I'm sure I've seen some realistic ones (possibly at Good Vibrations), but I think they're a lot more expensive.

I haved used a strap on regularly for over a year now and have been quite pleased with the results, in so far as I can satisfy my (male) partner very well with it, perhaps in some ways more so than a real penis could seeing as my "penis" also vibrates.

He says in some ways it is better than the real thing and he has experienced both so he does know what he is talking about.

The one I use I bought online, it is flesh coloured with a black leather harness, I bought a fairly slim one so as not to initially scare my partner LOL however I would prefer a larger and also more realistic looking/ feeling one now.

I too think medical adhesive could be awkward however I would be interested in experimenting with that as obviously if that is a possibility that's going to look more realistic than a harness, even though I actually think a harness is kinds sexy as long as it's a nice one in the fact that having a black leather strap around your hips is really kinda hot when you think about it.

I could never do anything that went in my vagina that idea is both terrifying and gross to me.  As for the other hole I would give that a go, I've tried it before and liked it although generally I prefer to be the one penetrating as opposed to being penetrated.

Yes, i use them.  have for about a decade.  some are good, some aren't...   but the more important part is the harness.

I probably would if I wasn't afraid to penetrate someone. I'm straight, but even if I were gay, I'd still be the dominant type... but I guess I'm projecting dysphoria on the girl.

Yeah I would. To be honest I'm really dying to try just popping it out of the fly to have sex. Seems dirty. In a hot way. ;D

I use one, I agree with Mister the most important part is the harness. Once I got a decent harness the rest just come naturally :)

I've used strap-ons a couple times, but I'm not much for them. I got a Nexus, but that thing was horrible... it hurt like heck, and didn't work at all. I don't know about the feeldoe things... I think the best thing is just a regular strap-on with a good harness. Vac-u-loc works pretty well.

I've never used one, the whole thought of having a strap around me erks me. I've used prosthetics for the past 5 years or so..Trial and error, but I've found one from Lola that's worked wonders.

Does yours have the insertable rod?  If so, how do you make it stay in there?  Even without lube (it says to lube it) it comes out.  That MF hurts when it hits my pubic bone.

LOL! Might depend on the model you have? I use a LITTLE lube to put the rod in, and make sure to push it all the way in...it very, very, rarely pops out..but yeah, if it does, it's not pleasant. I just stop, and push the badboy back in, and continue on :)

I would love to try a strap on personally, but I'm selfish and I want having sex to feel as good for myself as I want to make it feel for my partner...

But then I don't want anything in my vag, that horrifies/grosses me out. Scares me even. It would be cool not to need a harness, but I don't think I could ever willingly insert anything in there.

So maybe just a harness with clit stimulation for me...

I have a strap-on, without extra stimulating things on "my end". It is a rather cheap thing, something we wanted to try out even before I came out as trans. Now I am the only one who uses it, she never uses it on me anymore. (Not because she doesn't want to, but because I don't feel comfortable with that.)
The harness doesn't stay on my hips very well, and sometimes it's all a bit loose, so I'd like to get another, somewhat more realistic, one.

But as you guys already mentioned, realistic strap-ons are hard to find. I don't really know why. Perhaps they tailor these items for lesbians who do like the penetration but not the look and/or feel of something masculine in their beds?

I wouldn't be opposed to a double-dildo thing, as I can have pleasure from being penetrated as well. Whatever floats your boat, right?

I think you hit the nail on the head there, but I think there's another reason too. I notice that a ton of sex toys that are made for women to use either on others or on themselves are always brightly colored or not realistic (though more and more toys are being made to look very realistic now a days), whereas things made for men are either colored black or flesh-toned, very rarely any other colors.

I bet you the reason toys made for women are colored something other than flesh tones because it makes it less 'threatening' to their partner, who is usually male. The whole 'male-ego' thing about not wanting a toy to be better than the real thing, so if they make it something that's not a normal flesh color or something that's not shaped like a real penis, it makes some men more 'comfortable'.

The availability of realistic dildos has nothing to do with the lesbian population but with the sex toy industry.

Most sex toys, dildos included, are made outside of the US, most commonly in China or Japan.  In both China or Japan, it is illegal to produce sex toys that resemble penises, hence the prominence of dolphin dildos, vibrators in crazy colors and with anatomically incorrect imbellishments.  Since most dildos are worn in harnesses, the balls are generally omitted to make them compatible with as many harness types as possible.

Vixen sells a very realistic silicone dildo that is O-ring harness compatible with balls.  I think it's somewhere around $80-100, but as with everything, you get what you pay for.

I think a big reason they don't make more realistic ones is also due to the law. In a lot of places, it is (or was untill recently) actually illegal for them to look too real (eye roll) so if the company just make them in unrealistic colors, they can sell them in more places.

(exasperated laugh) I don't know my local laws on realism, but unless they've changed it, my state (Mississippi) has a law restricting the number you can have so stores can't sell them... any more than three's illegal.
(runs to check his "toy box") Ooops!
