Ah, the very sound of the word sends shivers up my spine.  For as long as I can remember, I've had an interesting and unique love for boots.  Strictly speaking - cowboy boots, and women's boots of nearly all kinds.

For years I've held a desire to own several pairs.  Well for a while I've managed to get by with a pair of cowboy boots, but was never able to completely wear them in public due to the mythical fact from the Westernized fashion police that boots on men were limited to work/hiking boots.

Then I was fortunate enough to buy a pair of thigh-high patent leather boots with 4in heels.  The flood of emotions roared through me like a tidal wave when I opened the door one morning and carried the descreetly wrapped package into my home.  After sixteen years of dreaming, I finally had a pair of good looking boots.  Truth be told, not only were they sexy, but they were extremely comfortable.

At the same time, thoughts filled my head.  Until I moved out of my parents' house and into a place of my own, hopefully deep in the country, or a suburban appartment, I won't be able to wear my new boots too much.  It's horrible.  Exactly why is a certain type of clothing, exclusive to one gender or the other in this world?  Honestly, the last thing I want to do is put people down, but sometimes it just seems that certain folks can wear their clothes with confidence and not worry, but if you just happen to be yourself, your targeted and wrongly (like the other victims of Western purgury) morally executed.  What does it matter?  The majority leave women who wear cowBOY boots, boxer shorts and jeans alone.  Hell, in fact, women look GOOD in them.  Personally, I don't see a problem with both genders sharing clothing.  It could break so many barriers and false thoughts, that it just might be crazy enough to state that the world could be a somewhat better place than it already is.

Look, you guys, I'm sorry.  I had to vent.  I don't want to offend a soul, as someone who has been greatly hurt by others in the past, I know it isn't right.

Hopefully, I've found a place where I can not only make some new friends, but share my own beliefs.

Adios

They already do, ain't it called Unisex?  :)
And the world doesn't seem a better place because of it.  :P
Where I live, people don't care about one's sex/ gender.  ;)
If they're dressed anything other than what Topman/ Topshop and Primark have to offer (boot-wise too)- they're strange.  ::)

Boots are popular among young women in my country (S. Korea). It is too warm for fall, but many women already wear high heel boots, which I think are primarily for winter.

I have ankle-high boots, which I purchased in Wal-mart at ca $30. In my country, thigh-high boots are relatively expensive. As I am afraid of athelet's foot, I will not purchase them any more. Yes, boots will be comfortable even it is 4 inch as it wraps and supports your ankle (mine is also 4 inch).

Some Freudian psychologists hypothesize that the high heel symbolizes the genital of man. For the same rationale, manly-looking boots can look sexy when women wear them. I guess most people would not buy this hypothesis. Neck tie can symbolize the genital??

Barbie~~
Just do it.

Point taken, comrade.

What I meant was that where I live, the idea of unisex isn't exactly embraced.  I was just expressing myself is all.  :]

People notice shoes way, way more than they notice anything else. I have some sandals with open toe and some flat heel on them and people freak the hell out about them but fail to notice that I'm wearing a blouse.

4 inch heel thigh highs are basically fetish wear, even for women. You'll see them in clubs but they're really not normal attire.

A short chunky heel is probably the best you can pull off under normal circumstances - there are actually mens' shoes, especially boots, with some heel on them. Flats are pretty safe. Wedges can work if they're short but they do actually stand out.

You didn't give your location, but I know you're not in the south. Because in the south you will see hick boys in wifebeaters with blue jeans tucked into knee high cowboy boots. Of course, generally speaking, cowboy boots aren't terribly alluring. Regular womens' leather boots under jeans aren't all that much different than guys', unless you go decorating them with buckles and such. Though if you go for motorcycle/goth boots they end up with flair.

I've got two pairs of ankle boots (one's been called 'cute' a couple of times by girls, they're more feminine. the other's a more square toed style that I originally really hated but I've gotten tons of compliments on) and one pair of knee high plain black leather. I'm getting a pair of brown ankle boots so I can wear them with more clothing options.

The comments i get on the knee highs have varied pretty wildly. 'Going fishing?' 'Hey Spock' to 'Those are really sharp shoes, man' 'Oh my god I love your boots where did you get those' and 'those are really f-ing hot.' ...mostly girls who think I'm hot in them, or want a pair. Go figure.

Pant leg cut makes a big difference, too. Petite leg (shorter by a few inches) pants show off quite a bit of ankle when you sit down. I'm short and I actually like to show off my shoes, but it definitely draws more attention than if you have floor length. But then nobody can see your shoes. And that's why womens' pants are shorter length than mens, heh.

It's also what you wear. Like, knee high boots and shorts on a guy isn't going to go over too well unless it's the gothic/biker style with baggy shorts, the rebel look. Mid thigh shorts and knee highs is a really, really huge 'I'm gay' sign. As much as I wish I could do that, it's a bad idea. I've gotten over my fear of tucking my pants into the boots, but I'll only do it if actually looks good, eg tight black slacks tapering down into the calves. My jeans don't really fit in now that I've bulked my calves up working retail, so that's another consideration - a big circumference is needed to tuck pants, but if you don't tuck them, it'll look weird. Always have to have multiple pairs of socks and pants and shoes to coordinate womens' clothing...

From the prospective of a full time androgyne crossdresser.
