Rachel Maddow rocks my world.  Her bit last night on 'they are trying to steal your vote' was masterful.

Wow, that was amazing. And the tricks they're pulling? Wow. She's right, that stuff should be prosecuted, and heavily sentenced on conviction. That's interfering with a basic democratic right.

Although I haven't heard of the same dirty tricks in Canada, I remember one election, the Conservative Party phoning me on the west coast and telling me that because of the east coast vote, they had already won, so I should go out and vote Conservative to make sure we had local representation in Parliament. I reported it (it's illegal to tell the results of an election before it's over - or it was then at least). Nobody seemed to care.
