Came out to my friend

Mr. Fox

Last night my friend drove me to and from honor band tryouts (which I did fabulously in, by the way), and as it was an hour drive each way, I decided to tell her on the way back.  It was the textbook "best coming out response possible," albeit with cursing.  I just said "I'm transsexual" (no preface) and she wasn't even vaguely shocked or surprised acting.  I told her about my current situation (father who is no help), and she basically said you have to be yourself, screw your unsupportive father.  After I told her about one of my father's stupidest fears (people who hate transsexuals won't want to be my friend), she ranted about bigots and how they are a waste of my time.  She repeatedly said that she's there for me, and said she could probably work out things with the principal for a public transition, esp. with the help of her sister who is the leader of a GSA.  So basically all good.

"You know, I honestly think that transsexualism is a much much bigger issue to people who are going through it than to observers."
