One option that has been discussed over the years with the doctor has been the idea to make the doctor a woman.

The story possibilities really open up and it may be possible to use some contrivance to say that gender change gives "her" a new lease on regenerations...

I'm sure there would be a spike in viewership around the globe on that one!

The doctor has always been one of my heros and to somehow make them a heroine would be really neat!

I heard they approached Dame Judi Dench, but she turned it down.

There has been some talk about making the next Doctor female. I don't watch it personally, it's not really my thing, but I think it could be a good thing if it happened.

I'm so going to miss David.  He and Tom Baker were absolutely the best Doctors and I think David might even be a wee bit ahead in my book.
