The Dirty Secret of the Financial Crisis: Our Banking System's BrokenWilliam Greider,The Nation. November 22, 2008.Henry Paulson's $700 billion plan to save the world is dead or dying, but the bailout was not killed by his arrogance or his grossly misleading claims about what the public's money would buy. The plan collapsed because it didn't work. The Treasury secretary has launched a PR offensive to revive his falling influence. Too late. The Democrats should be equally embarrassed. In September their leaders in Congress rushed to embrace the Paulson solution, no hard questions asked. They now claim they were duped.http://www.thenation.com/doc/20081208/greider

Personally i think this whole collapse thing, just like the iraq war, is nothing more than a conspiracy to bilk the u.s. taxpayers out of all the money they can, if congress bails the automakers too i'll be sooo pissed, the "car buyers of the u.s." have already been passing their verdict for years . . . .

Yeah, that they wish to have behemoth suvs, pick-up trucks, and sedans. At least until gas gets past $3/gal. :)

As the evil corporations fall, small businesses will become easier to create. And hopefully more sustainable.

Except in the case of Monica Lewinsky's dress which would merely be more stainable.   ::)

I apologize.

QuoteWhat happened to all the small farmers, mom & pop shops dear corporate?

People do not give a dam. They rather buy from salves that pollute the environment as long as they are cheaper.

Someone with not even two years in the senate and newly become president declaring a bank holiday and taking over the economy just like that...

I REALLY don't like that.

The old system will fall apart and out of the old like the Phoenix rising out of the dust the new system shall arise to greet the morning sun like a desert blossom in a sea of sand.

Can only hope that will be during this century.

I wouldn't worry. There's lots of talented people capable of picking up the pieces left by the greedheads.

I'm reminded of the words of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again:

"Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss..."

I believe if all Hell breaks loose with all the weapons of mass destruction around the world, which not only just the super powers can wield at each other, but ,also those little blood thirsty countries where babies cut the teeth on the barrel of an AK-47 makes you wonder what will be left.

I can only say that whom ever that is left will be hardy and very intelligent wise new special species who will not do the same error twice.

History is full of people who do not know history and repeat errors.

So's the present and something on the order of maybe 200 million of them live in the USA.

If that is so then all will end in dust and disarray and all that will be left of humankind is dust.

I would sooner envision a silver lining in those dark gloomy storm clouds with a a ray of warm sunshine radiating through to warm the ravaged earth below with promise of new life.

"Me an optimistic? Wow!!! can you believe that?"

And here all I ever wanted to do was to grow up to be a missionary, probably would have been safer braving those mosquito infested jungles. ;D
