You have to realize, however, that it is much easier now to grasp a lot of the scandalous elements The Man Who Fell To Earth carries. David Bowie's transsexual transformation, the slap on corporate culture, even the ultimately very bleak read on our planet's future, suggested through a number of effective statements about human beings' fascination with self-destruction, is all much easier to appreciate and take seriously now than it was some thirty years ago. Not surprisingly, in a way, The Man Who Fell To Earth proved to be way ahead of its time, thus confusing many who managed to see it in theaters around the world.
