The evolution of desire

As Cole Dodsley remembers it, after seeing Wong at repeated club nights, their desire turned physical.

"We would make out upstairs," remembers Dodsley, "and when you make out with a person your hands roam, right? I hadn't had [breast removal] surgery yet and I knew that he could feel the binder on my back and knew that he was noticing something, so this is where I'm saying, 'He needs to know,' and 'Oh ->-bleeped-<- if I tell him, will he hate me, will he not wanna make out with me, is he totally going to be grossed out and freaked out?'"

In fact, Dodsley (a transgendered man who identified as a lesbian before transitioning) and Wong (a gay man) discovered their desires were growing and made the decision to evolve along with them.

Desire evolved?  I thought it was a base emotion.  It sure is for me.

Yummy, I'm looking forward to evolving with them then.

"Dodsley is no stranger to Shelley's theory of shifting desires."

When I read this, my brain automatically finished it with love so it became "Dodsley is no stranger to love"

I think that's a sign I need less time on the internet.

Nice article, BTW. Confusing though...
If you do not agree to my demands... TOO LATE

I believe that you are evolving in that direction even as you read this! :)

I love desire.  Screw love, and that white hot heat of passion stuff, give me the smoldering - never to be put out - stuff of that deep desire.  That's what drives us.  That's what we see when we turn off the lights.  That's what is left when the music is over.

Ah, I was right.

I don't put on the best concerts in the USA because I have any passion about the music (OK, at times I do, but that does not matter) I do it because I have a desire to do the show, no matter what the show is.

People with a passion for history get into reenacting Civil War battles, people with a desire for history go to grad school.

Wow. That IS an excellent article. It echoes so much of the interaction (or rather, lack of it) that I have had with my best friend since I came out and started transitioning. He had a conversation with me once about how he could not fathom why I would give up being a man for being in every way weaker and less able. I was shocked by just how misogynistic he is. Since then we've drifted apart quite rapidly, to the point where I haven't spoken to him in over a month now, and it does not seem like we will again soon. I was really hurt for a while that somebody who had to fight for acceptance could just turn around and so easily discriminate, but yeah, I suppose it reflects unresolved things within himself as well.
