If you can afford Bowers or Brassard, there is no reason to head elsewhere at all. If I had the cash I would have gone to Brassard. Instead I went to Thailand and while I have what I will term satisfactory results at this time, what I went through was not worth the savings in money.

what happened?can you share or link your story?
i am seriously thinking of suporn.he is my 3rd choice after bowers and brassards.

I had mine done with Suporn last month, I just got back to the states Monday in fact.  Mine was $12,000 given February's exchange rates, plus $1500 for the flight and $1500 for the hotel stay (including room service more than half the time I was there), so $15,000 total not counting the grand I spent shopping and sightseeing.  It was definitely an experience I won't forget, and I was incredibly sad to leave.

Not sure how to answer this privately Deniz, it's not letting me view your profile or use the email button under your avatar.  I was in Thailand from August 4th to September 1st, with surgery on August 7th.  There were no complications, with his technique there is 0 chance of a fistula and a prolapse is impossible, and those were the only two I was concerned about.

I will be honest and say that the week I spent in the hospital was the worst week of my life.  I was in extreme discomfort (I wouldn't really call it painful), nauseous from the drugs, I couldn't eat much (I lost 7 pounds the first two weeks I was there), I couldn't sleep well because the bed was poking my friggin hips, and rolling over took 5 minutes because of the discomfort and all of the tubes coming out of me and pillows crammed between my legs made it like trying to solve a Rubik's Cube.

If I didn't have my laptop and the hospital's internet connection, I would have gone snooker loopy.

I was still dizzy and nauseous the first two days out of the hospital, but that went away quick when I stopped taking the pain medication.  It didn't hurt enough after leaving the hospital for me to need them, just the random electric shocks of the nerves reattaching which the pain meds didn't do anything for anyway.  I was able to walk around and get to an ATM across the street the day after I got out of the hospital, and by the time I left the only thing I had trouble with was sitting down, even with a doughnut.  Now I'm able to sit half-Indian style no problem, but I still need my doughnut to drive.

My experience once I was out of the hospital was wonderful.  The girls at the clinic were awesome, and out of everything I miss them the most.  I got to meet and hang out with some amazing T-girls as well.  Going on the clinic's regularly scheduled trips to Pattaya and Dr. Suporn's beach house was a lot of fun, but my friend and I decided to hire a taxi for the day through the clinic (around $50) twice, one for another trip south towards Pattaya and another north to Ayuthaya and the Grand Palace in Bangkok.  On the south trip we stopped by the Sri Racha Tiger Zoo where I got to feed a baby tiger and pose with crocodiles, then the Million Year Stone Park, and then rode an elephant to the Sanctuary of Truth.  On the clinic trip to Pattaya we stopped at Nong Nooch gardens, where I was molested by an orangutan (with the pics to prove it!) and saw an elephant show where I bought a painting one of the elephants made during the show.

As far as surgical vacations go, you could do a lot worse than Thailand, if you can stand the heat and humidity.

what does "being pretty" have to do with wanting to have a body that matches your gender identification?

Quite rightly said Natasha.
FFS , Lipo and Breast augmentation are defininite gender indicators as to a persons gender far more than GRS. Which is usually hidden.

Lol, very true & if you don't have the financial capabilities to afford what you need, you might as well start working 4 or 5 jobs because if you don't, you're going to meet a dead-end!

I don't worry about affording the surgery.  I have faith that if it's meant to be, it will come about so long as I work the ground work.  But I'm on medicaid right now, and I'm wondering how I can rope them into taking on some of the cost.
Anyone had any luck with medicaid?

I had been dead set on going to Dr. Alter in LA for my SRS, but after reading here and checking out the site.  I am wanting to go to Dr. Christine McGinn.  Also I noticed that she accepts financing through companies like Carecredit.  I am still more than likely going to stay with Dr. Osterhaught for my FFS.

I'm still quite a ways away, but I'm looking hard at Dr. Brassard in Ontario.
I called Dr. Bowers office in Trinidad today but they said her practise has been discontinued...?
Brianne.

I went to Marci's site and they still have her doing the surgeries.  I wonder if the girl on the phone was mistaken.  I think that is a large part of her practice.

Hi!
Can anyone tell me about Dr. Reed in Florida?  Apparently he offers grants, which could help, but I haven't found pictures of his work anywhere.

does anyone know if they offer finacing? and on top of that do they charge before or after the surgury?

I have heard that some use Care Credit
http://www.carecredit.com/index.html
Like anything, credit can be a good tool.  But don't get over your head with it.  Check out any financing you do very carefully.

Hi Kristie hon, would you re post that please. It says server cannot be found.
Hi  Bri Girl hon, it appears we cross paths again. I highly recommend Dr. Bressard, I had him do my surgery and four weeks into recovery I was fully functional down there, including the power turned on for the door bell.   ;D My hunny had Dr. Bressard do hers to just a month and a half ago. $16000.00 that is including one week at the recovery house.

Sorry, sweetie!  Fixed it.

Thanks hon, I book marked the link for future reference. These kind of questions appear to come up every now and again and it's nice to have on record.

Some surgeons do, but like Kristi said, there are others that use Care Credit.

do they charge before or after the surgury?

They require full payment before, WAY before your surgery date.  In Dr. Meltzer's case, half of the total amount due has to be paid at least six weeks before your scheduled SRS date, and the rest, one month prior to your SRS date.

Even with the tanking economy surgery is still going up $1-2K per year? Talk about a niche market.
  •

tekla

Yeah, but if the economy really tanks, you might be able to cut a better deal, works both ways.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...
  •

soldierjane

Well I guess if we get to soup kitchen level it will probably stop going up and start going down a bit. But then sadly it will only benefit those who could afford it in the first place anyway.
