MA Haters Using Prop 8 Celebration to Fundraise Against Trans Rights

The hate group that failed to strip LGBT people of the right to marry in MA is using a Prop 8 celebration to raise funds to fight the Transgender Rights Bill.  The bill was introduced early in the 2007/2008 legislative session and had a lot of support, including the support of Governor Deval Patrick, but was allowed to die in committee.  The bill will be reintroduced in the 2009/2010 session.

Let's beat them at their own game!  Please consider making an ofsetting donation to the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition, MassEquality or another Trans-positive organization of your choice.  And if you need some extra nudging, read the "christian" haters' Call to Action after the flip.  It's simply delightful!

oh this makes me sick.  This year and the next four are going to be crucial for activism and fundraising for advertising.  I repeat from another post- get to know your local queer advocacy groups and see how you can participate!  We need people to donate, march, recruit, flyer, petition, etc.  Don't just leave this up to activist groups!  Become an activist, because this concerns you!

I agree.  Work with your local groups, where you are.  If there is not one, create one.  And learn well the lesson that you shouldn't celebrate the victory before the votes are counted.  You have to do the grass roots stuff, not the preaching to the choir stuff to win.

And remember well too, all of this was settled until out of state money came in and put it on the ballot.  Funny, had it been an off-year election, without some charismatic figure running, I bet the results would have been different as the huge Hispanic and AA vote would not have been in play.
