Purple Pimp

Hi all,

The main purpose of this post is to try to get some help for a problem that I'm having, so if anyone knows anything that might help, please let me know! :)

I started HRT right before I turned 21, and had GRS this summer (2008).  I'm almost 23 now, but I'm coming up against an unpleasant problem that I hadn't anticipated.  Over the past few months, whenever I've seen my parents they've commented on how I seem to have grown.  I was just taking this as usual haven't-seen-you-in-a-while talk, but I'm beginning to suspect otherwise.  I visited my Mom's house for Christmas for the first time in months today, and lo and behold, I think that she's right.  Not only did I feel taller than most of my family, but I also could tell that my line of vision relative to other things in the house (refrigerator, sink, etc.) was higher.  I have gained an inch or two.

I'm scared as hell of getting any taller.  Is anyone familiar with any techniques or medications that I could talk to a doctor about?  I take enough estrogen that my epiphyses should be being encouraged to close sooner, but maybe just not enough.  I've heard, of course, of the puberty-delaying drugs that some docs give to prepubescent transkids; would this be looking into, or would that sort of thing also effect breast growth and other positive body changes?

Again, I'd appreciate anybody's ideas,

Thanks,
Lia

You don't say how tall you are but I think most doctors would hesitate to prescribe anything until/unless you are getting to the point of being abnormally tall.

I have heard that there are various drugs that are used in other medical cases to either encourage growth or try to limit it but you would have to see a doctor with knowledge in these areas.

I hope i won't grow anymore, i'm 18 and yet i'm something 6ft2/3 and its sucks, and i feel like a monster over any girl, just another one of my worries i guess...

You should continue taking an antiandrogen after the surgery. Even a small amount of adrenal testosterone can affect our bodies adversely. Estradiol may not be enough to block all of its effects.

6'4" here and I'm quite comfortable with it.
There are plenty of tall women out there. There is nothing wrong with being tall!
Don't let your height own you. Use it to your advantage. It's a GOOD thing!

Not unless your doctor tells you to...

do you realise women have adrenal testosterone? its what gives humans sex drives... and energy... I dont take antiandrogens... im pre op interesexed... i have only adrenal testosterone in my body, and its not affected me remotely adversely for its presence... so thats a load of tosh

As I said, even the littlest amount of testosterone can have more dramatic effects on the bodies of MtF women. This might not necessarily apply to everyone. I know some who don't notice a difference at all if they take them or not, but it certainly does for many others. I speak from my own personal experience and subsequent suggestion by a doctor. And being "pre op intersexed", your experience is similarly of little relevance.

I was 5' 9" by 16 and there I stayed (hormones in my teens, SRS at 24) - until my 30's - then I started to grow the other way  >:(

Sresha: What is your evidence? the point in case is the same... if anything im a control case that showing the testosterone present naturally, without the testicles effect doesnt do anything 'huge' as you claim... That testosterone is needed for sex drive, hair growth (<- yes even for your head) And also energy... So please come with some facts before drama llamaing it up about the insane effects T has in m2f bodies... it does the same job as in females in those levels.
