Ms Jessica

I'm supposed to be getting "Audition" tonight.  I'll let you all know how it is.

I already have a list of movies on dvd that I haven't seen yet ready to watch for this Sept/Oct season.

Angst
Tenebre
Dark Corners
Unrest
Wicked Little Things
Altered
Aswang

Might throw in The Brood. Been a long time.

Those are what are in my Queue right now. Maybe will add The Eye, since Tink gave a B.
Update
Angst                           I liked this strangely. I don't know why. Kind of twisted.
Tenebre                        Pretty good thriller.
Dark Corners                  Didn't watch yet
Unrest                          Didn't watch yet
Wicked Little Things        An okay undead movie
Altered                         Not the greatest. Fire in the sky was better.
Aswang                        Unusual film with a long long tongue. Kind of B movie.
The Brood                     Not as good as I thought it would be

Others I added that I loved or liked.
Original: Black Christmas        I loved it.
The Mist    a good monster movie
Kwaidan      BW 4 Old movie: Japanese Ghost stories, very interesting
Original: When a stranger calls. Interesting compared to remake.
Original: The Hitcher               very nice
The Cottage                  Kinda funny.
The Haunting: classic        I liked it even though it was old.
Freaks: classic                 Used real circus sideshow freaks. At first I thought it would take advantage, but they acted well.
Black Water                    If you like Jaws
Brain Dead                      Weird.
Re-animator                    Undead. Funny. I loved.
Stepford Wives: original         much better than remake.
Deep Red           weird though half the movie was in italian.

Hated

New: Prom Night    not even scary nor interesting.

My Prom night was both interesting and very scary.  Of course that's real, not a movie.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

The most scariest film have seen in some time is the Orphanage by Guillermo Del Toro.

It is a ghost story that was excellent.

I recently watched this on Netflix Instant Movies, based on your recommendation. I agree, it was a very good film, though I found twist near the end to be deeply disturbing. (Poor kid.)  Somehow it reminded me a little of Pan's Labyrinth (sp?), in that it had an ending that could be considered tragic or happy, depending on how you look at it.

I thought unrest was okay.  not the greatest.
Black Christmas-- agree with you that it was a good one.
Totally not surprised that the Prom Night remake sucked.
Recent not so baddies-- Slither and Feast.  Neither is great, but I was more interested in the movie than in how much time was left before it was over.

I liked it too.  The only thing that threw me off a bit was the part when the mother goes upstairs where her son is, touches his crotch, undresses and sits on top of him.  Yuck! Ewww!

Wait, what?  I totally don't remember that part!  October and November are funny months for me, because it's all horror movies, all the time, so some of them tend to run together, but I don't remember that from any movie I saw this year.  Was this the original or the remake of black x-mas?
Maybe I was getting a beer from the kitchen during that part?

Ya you never see Billy in the original. Original is a bit more eerie. And remake doesnt have the cool camera work and voices, but its ok.
  •

Ms Jessica

Huh.  I checked, and I did see the remake, must have been out of the room during the squicky part.  Not that it sounds like I missed much.
The original is already on the Netflix queue.  I think I added them both around the same time but staggered them a bit.  Hopefully this one will show up around Christmas time.  :)

Loved the Liv Tyler movie The Strangers.
  •

Ms Jessica

I've been looking forward to that one.  I don't know where it is, but it's on the queue somewhere.

Baby Blues

Apartment 1303

saw the original black x-mas last week.  well worth it.  better than the remake despite the dated appearance.

That's a beautiful, mature movie; more bittersweet and unsettling than scary.

I never found them scary, but the Friday the 13th movies were a lot of fun  ;D

Oh, I thought Takashi Miike's "Box" segment (On 3 extremes) was pretty awesome btw.

Ooooh the midnight hour is close at hand!

Just saw "The Strangers" the other night.  Somewhat scary, but I didn't think it was a very good movie.
There just didn't seem to be much of a point to it.  I'd elaborate, but hesitate at the risk of spoiling for others.
