Heh, forget where the money comes from, where ever do they get such notions as "godhates->-bleeped-<-s" in the first place?

Where do they get the cash?

I've read that they sue towns who don't let them demonstrate for violation of freedom of speech. A percentage of communities choose to settle out of court rather than deal with a lawsuit. So that's where they're getting the cash. BTW, one of the Phelps clan is a lawyer.

That's brilliant!  We need a gimmick like that.

their fathers probably beat it into them. Because they were loving parents.

In my opinion those who profess Christianity should take heed to the scriptures about life in this world.
The word of God says that we should pray for those in a position of authority. Not publicly demonstrate against them.
There are references where Paul disputed 3 sabbaths with the Jews. He didn't make a life long carreer out of it. Neither did he do it to push his train of thought and faith off on them. If I recall right he mentioned crying for them as brethren that missed the mark, so to speak.
I guess faith is admirable if it is strong enough to go against the Commander in Chief of our nation. Still, it is going against scripture and as one who claims to be a Christian he should know better.
If there was a point to be made, he made it and we didn't see it. Why beat a dead horse? Especially when all it does is to bring shame against the Lord and cause those who do not believe in Christianity to mock God?
I personally didn't vote one way or the other. Therefore, I really have no room to speak one way or the other about our President. I believe he will do what he feels is right for him. Whether that is motivated by a deep rooted faith, money or power is something I think we could all contend about from now until his term is done.
I always get a kick out of the arm-chair football fanatics that criticize the players when they couldn't do any better themselves. In like manner I couldn't do a good job as President of the United States and therefore have no room to speak one way or another.
I will follow his leadership as long as it doesn't go against the word of God as the Spirit of God leads me. Others can do and say what they wish and I respect them for their thoughts and may even learn from them. They may give me insight into what the President believes but will not sway my views.
As for Mr. Phelps, I personally find room not to back him nor believe he is truly called of God to picket funerals. I feel it is a shame and the President should be guarded against his taunting just as members of the GLBTQ community should be. I also believe that if he keeps bring such foolishness unto grieving people he should be stopped legally and in accordance with the laws of the land.
I personally believe that Mr. Phelps is causing many to mock the Lord and I therefore do not count him as brethren while he does such things. I also believe that like many, he may very well have started out with a genuine love of the Lord and desire to right those things he felt was wrong. And, like many the fame, money and power may have corrupted an honest love and turned it into near blasphemous foolishness that judges others and in judging them he may condemn himself just as the word of God warns us who claim the name of Jesus.
I hope he will stop his actions against all whom are just trying their best to live their life in this world. The GLBTQ community and even the President of the United States.
I do not see picket signs listed among the fruit of the Spirit.
  But, that's just my opinion.

Oh gosh, I'm here a day and I'm already reviving old threads...

I just think its an important point to make:
That people who hate seem to have such an immense drive to push it on everyone and get heard.. how come people who love seem content to just kick back and shake their head for a few minutes then get on with their lives?
Reminds me of a saying 'Evil is what happens when good men do nothing.

I thought Evil is what happens when good people refuse to wear chicken costumes.

I went to the wrong school, obviously.

if that fool does that maybe he will get more then he wanted . and get,s put in the  jail for a 100yr,s and with no probation  >:( >:(

I'm hoping for karma, he could go to the lowest level of the vision of fiery hell that he believes in  >:-)

My guess is he'll probably end up in only the fifth or sixth circle -- depending on whether he's classified as merely wrathful or an outright heretic. And it's not all fiery -- the inner ring is encased in ice. ;)

Quote from: Nichole on November 09, 2008, 07:54:21 PMI imagine the "karma" he has within him is what burns him so already. He preaches "love" and yet continuously shows the absence of love within himself, or at least a bit of compassion.

Anyone and everything becomes a means of him spewing forth the terrible hatred and alienation he wishes to get of himself due to how badly it hurts him, I imagine. The message is horrid, but I imagine the pain within him is far more horrid and in need of some truly deep healing.

A suffering soul on the way to the Kingdom of Heaven
Held up a sign that says "God hates America"
A child has been lost
A mother is shocked and is grieving
And turning away, turning away

He said there is a love that is so hideous and destructive
We must drive it from Earth to save all of our children
He must know it well
In the night it's the hell that he speaks of
It keeps him awake, keeps him awake

My God is love
My God is peace
My God loves you
My God loves me

Here's what I find about compromise--
don't do it if it hurts inside,
'cause either way you're screwed,
eventually you'll find
you may as well feel good;
you may as well have some pride

Most of his "church" is family members.

And there is a group of motorcycle riders called the Patriot Guard (mostly vets), who will go to a funeral, sing and generally run interference to keep these jerks out of the way. They have done this for many families free of charge even if Phelps does not show up.

On one hand, I really hope Phelps does go and do this for I suspect it could be the last straw. I am sorry it comes to this though and I especially feel bad for the family. No one deserves protesting at a funeral. Wait, can the Secret Service shoot to kill?  :P

And yes he does look like Henry Kane

Oooooh. Fred Phelps on Ice! I wonder if he can skate ... or maybe they'll just dump him in the furry smurf suit. ;D
