And why would anyone care?  It isn't about achieving anything, it isn't about accomplishing.  It is about letting go of all of that.  It isn't about becoming a great or wise person, it is about finding yourself apart from greatness, apart from accomplishment, apart from wisdom - because greatness and accomplishment are not food for the soul, they are food for the ego.  And I would rather be made fun of for my last two posts than to have anyone compliment me because this isn't about me or anything I have ever accomplished, this is about you, this is about us.  And if anything I said sounded cleaver or learned or accomplished or wise... you misunderstood me, I am a smile on a dog, and you can never know if the dog is really happy or if that is just the way a dog holds it's mouth.  The dog may seem happy but perhaps you are just interpreting the shape of the dog's mouth based upon your own previous experiences with that type of shape unless you really know me but the only way you can begin to know me is through yourself because I can be known but not if all you are paying attention to is the words I am typing, not if you know me with ideas, I can't be known that way the the truth is, neither can you.  You cannot be known with ideas, ideas are a possible outcome or byproduct of being but before ideas and without ideas is simply knowing.  On a certain level ideas prevent knowing and that is what I am talking about.  Know what I mean?

also well said.   *gives Caprica-6 another Karma point*

There are no perfect people and there are no people we can know inside and out with any degree of certainty.

Ideas are not action. Being intelligent is not a gaurentee of being right.  Overthinking a concept can overtake the concept and make it meaningless. Perfection is falling just short of perfection.

QuoteSadly so many of us are so bonded and identified with our egos that we will always interpret the unspeakable, the unwordable with our own preconceived ideas and preformed notions, the insanity of our own making, when two worlds collide, the worlds we have created in our own minds opposing a world where anything is possible.

What was this thread about again?

Bingo!!! this was the original intent in the author's mind who gave birth to this thread.

To many pea brains can't get past their  ego to see that. Sorry but i plum refuse to throw bricks, I would rather throw flowers, flowers of hope and love. Well you know some of the members of the flower children are still live.

Hi, Pica Pica, hon, I am sorry if you have misunderstood what I have written about mediocrity bit back.

What I shared was my own standard set for me and no one else.  I do not have the right to judge anyone, much less so your mum.

I lived in abject poverty for over twenty years of my life and if I hadn't  woken-up one day and decided that enough was enough, and that there was a much more honorable and progressively useful way of living, then all may have very well been a loss. Thus I chose the cup of fruition over a substandard life.

I'm kinda old school, so I prefer stuff where like people play instruments.  Particularly when they just school people, old Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra) and a bunch of other old guys, and George Harrison's son are merely OK until the 3:31 mark when Prince shows up and spanks them.  And the end, when he just throws his axe in the air and walks off.  That's rock and roll.

There's no doubt in my mind that in just over nine pages of scribbling that that up thar is the one post that just shines!

And the truth is this: there's a reason why Prince spanks them. Prince made the riff his own, gave it what Harrison had given the song to begin with -- life. The others simply thought imitation to be the sincerest form of flattery, and honor, in this case.

Prince caught the point of art, of beauty, of creativity ... he created from what was there and made something rare and lovely.

Because? Well. He gets it.

Skill, dexterity, creativity and the knowledge that what comes through one person can be infinitely greater and more moving than following all the rote lessons ever set down on a page of music, or poetry, or painted as an exercise on a canvas.

He brought his soul and made George Harrison proud of being a seed in what was left when the song was done. Nothing else to do except throw the axe in the air and walk away. The art itself was the honor given.

Nichole

Wow! I just clicked that link, Prince plays a truly amazing tribute to Harrison in that solo. As a teenager who had no words to express hir gender, I immersed myself in music. I taught myself to play guitar from Beatles and other records of that time, and George Harrison's quiet genius was always an inspiration for me. I'm also "old school" I like hearing someone play their instrument and make it sing/speak/cry/laugh. Prince channels that!

Ya don't have to tell people you can walk on water, when you are strolling across their swimming pool.

Most people are mediocre, most people are complacent to live substandard lives. Take my mum for example she never resisted; failed school, worked in a factory, had me young, did the best she could, went back to work when we grew older and hates it but can't afford to stop. Has few real friends, never discovered her talents, when she dies there will be two children that miss her completely  but no statues. She will never achieve greatness or prosperity, or freedom, or harmony. Nor will most people.

And even those that have, what have they achieved? A small bump in the flow of time, soon to be forgotten. Better to be contented with who and what you are than to be continually struggling after the sand that slips slowly through your fingers until you still have nothing left.

 Indeed, just toss down the guitar when you're done walking!! Thanks, Kat what a lovely addition to this interminably enjoyable, although diffuse and meandering thread!

Life here on earth is but a dream of the true spiritual world from whence we came and to where we will return. Our time here is but a drop in the bucket of our true existence. If the words i say speak to another then so be it but i am the one who needs to mostly hear my own words.

This thread allows us all to talk to ourselves outloud and if what we say speaks to another then we know it is not us giving the message we are just the vehicles for that message from outside our self / ego. Otheriwse if what we think we said here means anything to others then we surly have the biggest ego's of all. Again thats for me to hear and as Jesus said let those who can hear hear. I hear ye above and i listen intently...

If I am able to enlightened or touch the mind and soul of one individual in a room full of people then I have accomplished what I needed to carry me through to the next soul that is the only reward I seek.

Hi Postoplesbian hon, thank you for your posting.
For the scientific minded, *simplified.*

                                  Eternal Thought

All material things, the universe, the world even our bodies may be Eternal Thought, expressed in time and space. The more the physicists and astronomers reduce matter, the more it becomes a mathematical formula, which is in itself thought.

In the final analysis matter is thought, When eternal thought expresses itself within the framework of space and time, it becomes matter.

Our thoughts within the box of space an time cannot know anything first hand, except material things. But we can deduce that outside the box of space and time is eternal thought, which we can call The Oneness of all things, in other words, God.

Thank you Pica Pica.
I am only here to share and give of myself, of my experiences, what I have learned, my feelings and my thoughts and share a tear, laughter and at times a bit of wisdom. I love all and I care for all, I do not get angry but I do get disappointed at times at some people's behaviour.

To all, love one another and be there for one another is about the best advice I can give if you desire to get through probably one of the most trying times that is called GID and transitioning. Draw strength from those who are willing to share it with you.

Well in all "sincerity"  I love this message:

Oh very young
What will you leave us this time
Youre only dancing on this earth for a short while
And though your dreams may toss and turn you now
They will vanish away like your daddys best jeans
Denim Blue fading up to the sky
And though you want him to last forever
You know he never will
(You know he never will )
And the patches make the goodbye harder still

Oh very young
What will you leave us this time
Therell never be a better chance to change your mind
And if you want this world to see a better day
Will you carry the words of love with you
Will you ride the great white bird into heaven
And though you want to last forever
You know you never will
(You know you never will )
And the goodbye makes the journey harder still

Oh very young
What will you leave us this time
Youre only dancing on this earth for a short while
Oh very young
What will you leave us this time

Thank you Kristi, that was a beautiful song from the heart.

Although not related it reminded me of another oldies that I though was the nicest idea since sliced bread when I was a kid.

Surely you, Kristi-the-youthful, aren't old enough to have loved it as long as I!! Were you even a glimmer in an iris when that song was first released?!!

I loved it too. Oops, there goes gooey Nichole showing her musical guilty pleasures!! :)

Thank you, m'lady.
