Mari

Well, few weeks ago i had my first appointment with my endo, after 3 mon of HRT. The lab tests i had were all OK except for cotisol. I did Dexamethason suppresion test, and the results weren't es expected, my crtiosl was "normal" veras it was supposed to be supressed. So my doctor ordered MRI of adrenal glands, which i have to do in the following months and will see her again in 3 months. I have test results from 6 month ago(before HRT): my cortisol was normal, together with ketosteroids, MRI of hypofysis was normal, abdoiman ultrasound kidney and adrenals were normal.
I googled "high cortisol" and "dex suppresion test" and they both point to disese called cuhings syndrome, which usually inovlves a tumor of either pituritary gland or adrenal glands, and that freaked me out. I am not cancer phobic as it may seem, just that less than a year ago i had testicular tumor removed (which was non-malignant) but the idea of having to go through it all again really gets me down. On the other hand... i dont seem to ahve any other high-cortisol symptoms that i have read about and really have no clue about what might be going on. Could it all be stress, or something like that... well i surely hope it is "just stress"
p.s. sorry for not so concise writing i had so many things in my had... and i look forward to any insight from you, if anyone can help me somehow...  :)

Hi Mari,

I'm sorry you're going through all of this...I am too :(

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday to determine the cause of male-pattern hair growth (I'm a GG) and they did some blood tests to check different hormones...I get to go back for the suppression test in a week or so.  I also get to pee in a jug for 24hours to chart my cortisol levels...in my case it is most likely something called PCOS rather than Cushing's, but my endo wants to cover all her bases.

On the somewhat amusing side, I might be taking spiro to clear up the hair stuff.  The doctor started explaining about it and my GF (who is m2f) was there with me and I started laughing and told her I knew all about it :P

:hugs:
