Can you prove that you're not a disembodied brain in a vat of nutrients somewhere, with everything you perceive to be reality merely electrical impulses being pumped into your brain?

I can't prove that.  However, I'm also unable to prove that I'm sentient.

LOL. You can prove that you exist because you think, and that you are therefore aware of yourself. That sounds like sentience to me. Though you can only prove it to yourself. ;) I'm just a figment of your warped mind. :P

How are you sure of this?  From your perspective, how can you prove the reality you perceive is not some elaborate ruse :P?

Because we need many more witnesses that also have the same reality from many different perspectives. It is known as consensus reality. Without collaborating evidence things are skeptical even to ourselves. Human brains distorts and deceives.  Many experiments prove this, read " A mind of its own". People that do not doubt there own abilities to understand the world have a huge problem living in it. Take nothing for granted.
