I listened to country for about a year in my teens. All because I fell in love with a country girl.

I remember listening to Alan Jackson, Martina Mcbride, and Billy Ray Cyrus. They qualify as country singers, right? When she disappeared, so did my taste for country music. That "Achy Breaky Heart" cd in particular had to go!
As for music to relax to:
Unfortunately, I have been subjected to a lot of rap and R&B due to my environment and lifestyle.
So I would say I tolerate it as something familiar and comfortable. I use it for background music, when I'm not feeling particularly creative. When my muse graces me with her presence, I go for something more melodious.
I loved Biggie and I must admit to liking Eminem's stuff. Oh, the shame.
