Here We Go Again: IFGE Elects HRC's Allyson Robinson To The Board

The past few days I've been attending the IFGE Conference in suburban Virginia. As today was the Trinity Awards for the community, I made a point of attending. I was please to see folks get rewarded for their hard work – many times done out of pocket and unfunded.

During the announcements portion of the luncheon we heard the news of the newly-elected board at IFGE. Congratulations go out to all, and a special congrats to Bree Hartlage who will be the new board chair.

But then, at the end of the announced new board members for IFGE was a name that stopped me cold: Allyson Robinson. Shortly after I verified with board member Ethan St. Pierre: yes, this is the one employed by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). She is now on the board of IFGE.

I have to admit that when Vanessa decides to blast away it's usually something of a neutron-bomb effect. :) Ya know? That little thing where the buildings and cars and trucks are all left intact, but the animal life has totally disappeared. :)

Maybe someone should call HRC and make sure someone's there answering the phones on Monday! Might not hurt to try and call IFGE either.

Vanessa is maybe the absolute best active-writer blogger in our community. She always writes with both passion and intelligence and an ability to devastate without seeming to be particularly nasty doing so. But damn does she pack a wallop!

Maybe we should elect her to more board memberships?

As I've seen no sign that the HRC is yet providing genuine, compassionate and effective support to the trans community untainted by cynical self-aggrandizement,  we need more people like Vanessa to continue to provide such withering radiation.

When I see the square gold-on-blue Equals sign, I somehow do not yet feel included by that symbol.  Rock on, Vanessa!
