I read a thread about how that episode they did. They did do this mock psa about hermaphrodites for Troma. This was before south park. Yea they do offend EVERYONE. They've even put cp in the show for christ's sakes! how the censors let em get away with that..well ratings of course. Now those guys were bound to make it famous one way or another. They had done two films already and had done some shorts. One short had Steven Spielberg, Demi Moore, Sylvester Stallone, etc. I do sort of blame the decline of television sort of. The networks didnt have to churn out so many south park themed shows..

I don't see anything disrespectful in these clips happening at all.

Well part of this thread is to point yes that episode on south park was offensive but they attack everyone. Plus for those who hate south park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker were bound to strike success regardless of the show. The universal clip is to show where they going with their careers in entertainment. I mean the guys already had cult status prior to south park. But if anyone hates the duo, feel free to bash em. Yes bash or compliment.

As they say in show biz, 'Hate me all the way to the bank.'

No doubt though they owe a lot to The Simpsons who paved the way for something on the offensive level, and in turn the Simpsons owed a lot to Ren & Stimpy and Rocco's Modern World, who all owe Zap Comics a huge debt, and there would be no Zap without William Maxwell Gaines and Mad Magazine.

Rocco isn't as old as the Simpsons. Simpsons were late 80s and Rocko was 1993 no?

Your right, 93 for Rocco (I loved that show so much), 89 for the Simpsons, and 91 for Ren and Stimpy (which I also loved) so rearrange them according to the right dates - hey I can't do all the work.

I think Rocco was like... My favorite out of the bunch because it took me til I was older to appreciate Ren and Stimpy.


I friggin LOVED Rocco. It started me on the path to hating corporations with Conglomo. I was like 5... Lol

Another insane thing about the entertainment biz is how the duo almost landed a children's show that was to be Cannibal on a weekly basis. Would it have been strange if the show had been picked up and was their point of success!?!?!

Well..the simpsons were shorts that started on the Tracey Ullman show so they were around earlier than 89. John Kricfalusi hated the simpsons. I think it had something to do with the animation or something. Sucks how John K got fired from his own show! Fun fact is that April March was like an animator on the Ren and Stimpy show or something. Anywho the simpsons was great cause the show had really great genius writers and had more freedom from the network then most shows. Plus the show was animated which gave enabled to work beyond the constrictions of how a conventional sitcom is normally written. Those constrictions are the way a sitcom has to be shot and staged, the actors strength with the audience, budget, and of course the network. Im sure theres more that I am leaving out. Another great thing about rocco is the theme by the B52's.
