I think it is funniest when you come out and they don't believe you.

I had a friend who insisted I had to be female because she knew what transsexuals look like. I apparently look nothing like a transsexual, it took everything I had not to start rolling on the ground laughing. Because of course we all look like the ones media shows us as a 'classic' transsexual.

I came out to a group of friends, and one guy came up to me and said, "Dude, that took some serious balls!!!"

Later I came out to a friend from school after a longish conversation with him about how I was just unhappy with life:

Me: Look. <sigh> I'm ... unhappy ... about my gender.
Friend: Well, you know you can change that?



The absolute BEST response possible! The best part was how earnest he was. I think he was offended that I laughed, poor guy. The thing is, in some ways I don't think I really did know until he said it.
