Transgender Chris Newton-John says she killed her 73-year-old husband

CHARDON — A 41-year-old transgender woman pleaded guilty on Thursday to reckless homicide for exercising her 73-year-old husband to death.

Christine Newton-John faces up to five years in prison when she is sentenced. A date for the sentencing has not been set.

It is Ohio. I wonder in wich prison she will end up.

She got off easy, this is clear cut Murder One.

Only in case they follow the general ''external genitalia''- placement policy. In other case 5 years is a death sentence or worse for her.

In the USA there is a saying "if you can't do the time, don't do the crime."  The description of how she murdered him is horrific, it's torture, and if I were the DA I'd have gone that route, murder with special circumstances. 

I'm sure, they just took the plea.  Still, whatever happens to her, I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Even in case they follow external genitalia policy publicity would not make  her time easy.

Given what she did I would not want her to have 'easy time.' 

In case she would be a cis-woman I think that she would have got even a lower sentence.

I seriously doubt she took a plea without specifying which prison she would end up in.  I also would not be surprised if the DA used the threat of putting her in men's prison as an incentive to get her to take the plea.

I think the rule in Ohio is that people get housed with the population that matches gender of their sex organs. 

But, this is US, she is going to be in jail with some pretty bad girls.  Ain't going to be much better that way, I'm sure of that.

That's just frickin' brilliant. Give the right-winger bigots another reason to think transsexuals are freaks and criminals.

Oh its still a local story, and Ohio tends not to be big news, but wait till next year when you see it on Law and Order, or CSI.

this SEVERELY pisses me off. this crappy ass state hates us with a passion as it is, wanting to throw the Bible in our face when we don't or can't live by their set of rules. this is the kind of nonsenical crap of why people hate us and once people around here get wind of it, they're going to start wondering when i'm going to go off the deep end and start killing people. this transwoman has just made it much harder for those of us to be seen as normal women who just want to live normal lives. according to the article she has had surgery, which means she should be housed in a female prison, but when you're in prison, and commit crimes against family you rarely make friends in EITHER prison. i seriously hope the rest of the trans "community" don't suffer severe repercussions here because this woman murdered her husband, i just know once The Bible Belt gets ahold of it, it's going to add endless fuel to their fire...

I agree with the others who commented on the sensationalizing, dehumanizing of transgender folk in media.  Anything that is bizzare will be quickly converted into transsexual = scary weirdo.

Unfortunately the damage is already done. 

This is a job for Superwoman!  (from the Daily Planet) To conquer evil by applying a powerful, commanding retrospective discourse on media's continuous subtext which villifies the image of the ordinary, harmless transgender person, with homogenous muckraking and high-school homophobic syntax.

Anyone into leaping tall stories with a single bound?

And yet, if it was a cisgender woman that did the same thing, nobody would be ready to condemn every person assigned female at birth a murdering black-widow. So turn it back on them, if somebody does argue along those lines, if they're a guy, ask them if the fact that there are thousands of men in jail for rape and murder make them murderers too, and likewise for women. I know that won't change the larger picture immediately, but that's how one starts to break down stereotypes, by showing just how ridiculous they are.
